what the **** did they want him to do? Let Doucet go by?

Talk about adding insult to inury

What a joke. NFL has definitely gone downhill since the Dictator took over

Anyone have a gif, video or screen shot of the hit? I'm trying to remember which it was.

I know Mayo has absolutely demolished a couple of guys this year, both without using his helmet - so I figured they were good clean hits that could stand as examples of how to be very physical while also lowering the risk of concussions.

The Gregory fine was a total joke. Yes he hit him out of bounds but the guy was running for extra yards. He got a penalty. That's where it ends.

There's no such thing as a good, clean, hard hit in the Goodell era. Next these players are going to be putting on pink tu-tu's and performing The Nutcracker on the field.

Just rewatched the play, and I'm glad that it wasn't called a penalty, because I dunno what else they'd have Mayo do. He hit a receiver who left his feet coming across the middle of the field. Apparently Goodell would rather that he either let Doucet pass by or cuddle him gently to the ground.

Catch being made:

Mayo immediately hits him:

Doucet went down pretty hard:

But gets back up pretty much immediately:

Players are now getting fined for legal hits.

I would hope that Belichick would allow Mayo to bring this in front of wherever they go to appeal these things in the NFL. Somewhere, somehow, Goodell has to be taken down a few notches. This one is absolutely ridiculous and ludicrous.

I've watched it again.

This is a pure due diligence fine. show that that nfl cares about concussion.

Bull**** decision

Pure and simple bull****.

All I'll say is this...tackle the way you're supposed to and this won't happen. I don't like it as much as anyone but you make a rod for your own back. The hit was high enough to be around the neck area of what is deemed a defenceless player by rule. Therefore he got fined.

You can make big hits by tackling the way people teach you from HIGH SCHOOL. Why playes choose to forget this through college and the NFL is beyond me. I mean...what the hell do they teach these guys to make them forget the most basic fundamentals?

Go low and it isn't not a problem...just like you're supposed to. I never teach players I've coached to go that high...ever.

It was a clean hit. The replays showed that.

It's a sad day when a defender is fined for merely doing his job. It was a good, clean hit. That's what should continue to happen when players come across the middle.

Word will spread across the league that Mayo is a dirty player and might be put under a microscope by the refs. He needs to challenge this

Maybe they should play this like 2 hand touch to stop the play. The players can then roll random dice with modifiers based on the relative position and abilities for both payers to make a determination if the receiver drops the ball.

The initial contact was in the neck area of what the new rule book defines as a defenceless receiver. Had he hit him lower, it would have been legal.

You're just a homer. Go read the rules.

What does the rule say?

NFL...becoming a joke one play or flag at a time...
