Broncos won't look to Manning if they need a Hail Mary

I don't really think that's a big deal. We once pulled Bledsoe for Michael Bishop in this circumstance simply because he had a stronger arm.

If they need a Hail Mary, Broncos will turn to Osweiler over Manning | ProFootballTalk

Just shows of how much trouble Peyton is having throwing the long ball - the Broncos would rely on scrub backup no named QB Osweiler to win or tie a game if a Hail Mary had to be thrown.

Should be interesting in the Pats/Denver game in a few weeks.

If that's the case, not only is he having trouble throwing the long ball, but he's also having trouble reading coverage. The Falcons completely took him to task the other night and their disguises twisted his head into pretzels.

Not only that, but a lot of his passes looked wobbly and slow. He didn't have that crisp zip we're used to seeing from him. Now if the receiver isn't wide open he has a harder time getting him the ball in time. At least in that game.

He looked damned good in week 1.

Osweiller is hardly a scrub no name backup, he's a pretty good rookie QB with a huge arm, that arm makes him ideal for a hail mary.

That's hardly surprising considering all of the circumstances. Some guys reported long ago that his arm looks shot.

He is still miles better than that jets backup QB.

You mean Pete Carroll did that. Belichick would never had done something like that. Bishop didn't even see the active roster the one year he played under Belichick, never mind the field.

Saying that since Pete Carroll did something with the Pats that it is common or smart isn't a strong case to make.

guess you missed week 2 where he looked like hot garbage and a lot of his throws were piss poor sloppy and wobbled like a bowling ball shaped like a watermelon.

Peyton Manning right now is nothing more than Chad Pennington with a high forehead...its sad in a way.

Which is who they would have turned to if Tebow was the QB.

It's just one more opinion but ... I think Manning's lack of strength is something that improves with time. He should be gaining, not losing as the weeks roll by.

He has a whole lot more on his plate than that too. That's a steep learning curve with new guys and a bunch of very high expectations.

With that OL he better watch that throwing shoulder which could worsen his throws, their offensive line is not as good as what he had in Indy and he is not as quick on the trigger as he was before either.

He looks old at times out there.

he has no long ball right now...at all..and when he trows in..it wobbles in the air.

Bishop threw 9 passes in Belichick's first season as head coach, completing one for a touchdown.

But then why would you pay him a zillion dollars...........
you don't spend a few hundred thousand on a Lamborghini if you know it cant take you from LA to VEGAS but the '99 Honda in your garage can.......

My bad. I guess I didn't remember that. But looking it up all three were in blowouts in garbage time. Two of the other three were incompletion. He did throw one pass in a close game for a TD.

But even so, he wasn't the Pats' Hail Mary QB. Bledsoe still had a cannon of an arm in 2000. He wasn't suited for the offense they wanted to run, but he was very adept at the Hail Mary.

Not sure what people are talking about with that crisp, tight spiral he "used" to have. He has always thrown some pretty wobbly ducks (and Eli has too, for that matter).

He set expectations too high for himself by having a pretty good week 1. He has a lot of work to do to come back from a year off and a major injury. He'll have more quarters like the 1st last week, but I'd be exceedingly hesistant to write him off, or "feel sorry" for him...

I think the hope is his strength improves, hes not too far removed from surgery at this point.

Only a moron would spend a hundred thousand on an old rusty Lambo with too much mileage on it. Elway shouldn't have ignored the carfax, now he's screwed.

I think Tebow, with an extra year in Denver's system would've been the better option. When he do pass the ball, finally, it has a lot more velocity than Manning's.
Manning's throws looked bad in the Pittsburgh game, Pitts defense is just too old to defend anything. I had to watch Sanchez and his WR lose the game.

Brady was inconsistent at times in '09, and Manning's coming back from a more severe injury than that. If anything's surprising here, it's that people are surprised to see him struggle.
