I must say I don't remember this board ever getting so Unreadable.

Sure there have been losses before, including unexpected upsets. But now BB is a "douch", and "coaching his worst game ever".

There is a full blown Conspiracy Theory from more than one hyper-agitated fan "to prevent Welker from catching passes".

There is some fan who proclaims and others concur, "use Daniel Fells or cut him". Doesn't any one know we have two types of TEs? Fells is a backup for a blocking Gronk type TE. Shiancoe, who is presently on retrievable IR, was/is the backup for pass catching TE Ahern. Thus the temporary, (and probably futile) KWII headcase signing. Headcases take time to screw up a team and themselves. BB belieives he is probably safe for 6-8 games.

No BB was not "stupid not to make plans" for TE depth. He certainly did make provisional plans to withstand both types of TE injury. Shiancoe, Fells, Ballard Hoomanamaneui...

BB suddenly can't make "appropriate personnel decisions". Very seldom has BB let talent slip through his fingers. Particulary when it comes to old veterans who are losing it. Our old familiar recievers are indeed probably done; and Fans are NOT the true judges of talent.

Notice that no other team picked up Gaffney or Branch, although a few kicked the tires, as proof.

Edelman is a valuable PR, demonstrating elusiveness, superior quickness and speed, the best we have, (without Demps), and a league leader in his specialty. They are trying to convert this ex-QB to a WR, and it takes a few years. He is NOT "trash who should be cut", summarily.

it is a canard, that "BB is cheap". No one has signed Andre Carter yet. He is just not healthy enough. Advanced Folger-itis is everywhere, but worse believed, implicitely.

It is a canard, that "BB is cheap". Waters was under contract, and even offered a big raise to return. He just wants to retire. Advanced Folger-itis is everywhere, but worse believed, implicitely. The Pats did NOT offer him a paycut.

BB is trying to get a jump on developing a next generation of WRs. Greg Salas was an inexpensive attempt to do so, at the end of the roster. It is a canard that "BB was stupid to 'waste' a 2015 7th rounder".

Finally, if Gostkowski fifth FG attempt had been accurate, or if the go ahead TD had not been called back, or if the 2-point conversion worked, none of these Bull Patties would have been written, including this one.

So just how valid is any of this... tripe? :snob:

I welcome all the new posters, but please get a clue. ;)

and you provided a perfect example of an unreadable post

I got 3 lines in when an owerwhelming urge to be disinterested crushed my desire to read the rest of it

Really? Cause this feels pretty normal to me after a loss. Halfway through the Cards game I knew the board was going to be extreme kneejerk reactions. It happened last year except instead of WRs it was the Secondary.

This is the problem with this board and every message board of its type. Everyone is completely reactionary based on what happens this week or this day.

It was like this last year too at this time complaining about the defense.

We have the Brian Waters thread this time now too with some irrational and unfound hatred to the front office that seems to be something out of their control. That isn't typically here after a loss.

I think what sets this loss apart from others is that it was to an inferior opponent so early in the season. When stumbling in past seasons, there was enough of a previous sample size to suggest that the loss was merely a 'one time blip' instead of a sign of things to come.

Combine the shocking loss at home, the Hernandez injury, and the odd Welker situation and you will get skeptics who think the Pats may be heading down the wrong path.

I am not one of them. Things will be okay. At the same time, I don't think that the team should be absolved of criticism. Maybe Belichick did coach a bad game. Even if so, I wouldn't imagine that to continue.

Indeed. And you know what? On Monday morning, the sun came up, and I got up early to get my daughter off to school. I paid some bills, did a lot of housework, then got some writing done in order to meet my deadline.

It's game 2. It wasn't even a divisional game. The Patriots are tied for 1st place in the division at 1:1 with all three other AFCE teams.

Did it hurt? yeah. Hernandez got hurt. Woodhead's TD run got called back for a non-hold. Ghost missed his kick. The team missed a 2-point conversion.

It happens. The other team also has a say in who wins the game.

The Patriots play another game this weekend. It, too, will be a tough game, but I'll still be rooting for them, and wearing the laundry, and doing my superstitious things that I do every game to help placate the Football Gods into letting the Patriots win. :D

And after that game there will be another one, and another one and another one. It's a game. It's not life-changing unless you bet the rent money on it, or are actually on the field playing. So many here don't remember the old days when ANY win was worth celebrating for days.

Ah well. I've been a Patriots fan since they drafted Jim Plunkett. I'll still be a fan when I pass over. I'll be wearing Patriots jersey when they cremate me.

But it's still a game, and life still goes on. :rocker:

GO PATS!!!!!!!

The Pats lost to the Bills early in the season last year.

that's why I try to keep things within the context of the game...in terms of trending, the only thing to really talk about is welker's decreased role......

but that said, I've also watched this team lose as many games as most anyone else.......while I am certainly in favor of winning, I have been a pretty consistent fan from watching plunkett get pummeled to getting screwed by drieth, to fairbanks getting run out to 2-14 to superbowl to 1-15 to superbow to pete carroll to the ups and downs of being very high up in the food chain. I am sure to still be there during their next losing season, and at some point IT WILL HAPPEN.

everything going on has to do with changes we are seeing. most of it is intentional, but the untintentional stuff is what bites you in the butt.

I have no doubt that BB continues to try to keep building on the best success in the NFL over the last 12 years, even if I personally don't agree wiht everything he does.

love the defense, the offense is a week or 2 from appearing to be a cluster*****

you aver watch marc wilson play QB for the pats? how about hugh millen?

Im pretty sure it is. Last year plenty of people were upset with the FO after Belichick let go half the secondary in one day. It was pretty bad after the Steelers loss when people moaned that Belichick had no clue what he was doing and went into complete meltdown mode after the Giants loss. I recall several threads of people saying he didn't have it in him anymore and needed to be replaced as GM only to coach. That he was stubborn and too smart for his own good.

Its completely insane. We're 3 days removed from the loss and we're getting statements from Bob Ryan that Bradys lost it (Am I missing something he pased for 300 yards and a touchdown despite getting rushed to hell all day?) and that the Patriots are no longer themselves. WTF

The only article that I think would make sense would be about Gostowski and how this impacts the team moving forward, i.e. will Bill trust him on 4th and 10 in the playoffs to kick a 40 yarder or will he go for it?

Basically its beyond ridiculous, this is WAY better of a loss than the Steelers or Bills ones last year. At least theres some positives out of this loss, i.e. the Defense can actually win us games or put us in position to despite complete ***** from the offense and special teams.

Patriots will be considered amazing again and Brady a master once we roll into Baltimore and win 35-14 :rocker:

I think that a lot of whining comes from fans who are fairly new to the team. I have also been a fan of this team since the Plunkett years and I really enjoy the fact that the Patriots contend every year. What gets me is the sense of entitlement that newer fans have. I am just happy that I have a contending team every year that makes the playoffs consistently. Were mistakes made in the last game? Yes by players and coaches. Nothing that can be fixed.

I agree there's alot of ridiculous things said on this forum but at the same time, BB is not perfect and does deserve SOME criticism for the losses when there are clear errors in judgement. Last year lots of people 'whined' about the lack of DB depth on the team, namely at safety, and it turns out they were right as it did bite us in the *** and our pass D was historically bad. This year alot of us were concerned over the WR depth for cases where a key reciever were to go down and judging by the decisions midweek to bring in Branch AND another pass catching TE, these appear to have been legit concerns. Add to that the misuse of Welker and the horrible clock management down the stretch of the game and this is clearly one of BB's less shining moments as a coach/GM. Is there a coach I'd rather have on a consistent basis? No way. But like every coach/player in history he has his share of miscues.

Ah....the reaction to the reactionary......aka.....the opinion of opinions...always a valuable read.
In order to maintain some semblance of control over the "clueless" new posters....please provide a list of appropriate topics and suitable answers

To the OPs point about the message board crapiness, Ian picked just the right time to add the Thread Ignore feature. I only blocked one poster in all the years and I forget who it was but I'm lovin' and usin' the Thread Ignore feature bigtime to make the board more readable and fun.
