I have been in Indy since Saturday. I did not have Internet access during my time there. Do not feel like going through upteem pages to see if I miss any question asked of me.

Yes, did you have a nice week end.:)

Yes, why did the Pats go through this season with $68 million in unused cap space? That's what I heard, anyway.

:D

Well, I have one.

Did you find out how many Hoosiers it took to screw in a light bulb?:singing:

Do you think Dillon will be cut? His participation has decreased throughout the season. Seems like he plays in the 1st quarter but don't seem him for the 2nd and 3rd. I'm sure you have tlaked aobut the cap implications.

If Brushi retires do the Pats get money back since I think he is still under contract one more year?

Is Earl Charles signed through 2007 or 2006? NFLPA.org says 2006.

Ditto for Ventrone.

My question to anyone is can we possibly let Samuel just leave as a UFA . . . if not re-signed, we HAVE TO Franchise him, right ? I will forever lose confidence in our front office if he just walks.

We can just let him walk but that doesnt make any sense.

If we franchise him we at least obtain his rights and can choose where he goes and choose and agree upon a compensatory pick.

If he just walks then we seriously dropped the ball.

I agree. Not only that, we are way beyond the point now that the franchise value for him for 1 year is not market value. It is definately fair and probably a bargain.

Lots of talk on the Jets boards about the Jets making a run at him.

My question is does anyone think the Jets are in a position to drive his price up, or to create a Dion Branch situation, maybe as a Mangenius way of poking at BB.

Basically my point - if we Franchise him then he's either stuck with us or we can control where he goes via trade.

I'm scared we'll screw this up because, at a lower level, I felt this way about Givens. I still think we could have Franchised him and gotten more in a trade than the comp pick we're getting.

Even though the Pats lost, it was a great weekend.
I got my nephew on TV and I got to see a great game in person.
Got to get real close to some Patriots and Colts players.

Miguel....sounds great!! Glad you enjoyed it....I knew some acquantances that went..just talked to them this evening..they had a great time..although not happy with the outcome of course,,,

So you are saying there is nothing the Jets or any other team can do to influence the Samuels situation, becuase thats the way I see it, I think the franchise tag this year and maybe the following also, becuase I do not think that the Patsa show a good histry of retaining players who want big money or make statements like "get paid".

A few additions to the FA spreadsheet:

Patriots - ERFA - Spann
Patriots - ERFA - Wright

Jets - ERFA - Michael King
Jets - ERFA - Jamie Thompson
Jets - ERFA - Wallace Wright
Jets - ERFA - Ed Blanton
*LB Ryan Riddle was released*

Colts - UFA - Ricky Proehl
Colts - ERFA - Matt Ulrich

Chargers - UFA - Az-Zahir Hakim
*LB Phil Archer was apparently released*

Steelers - RFA - Andre Lott
Steelers - UFA - Chidi Iwuoma

By the way, NFLPA.org is now listing full salaries for 2006 rookies. No more 2007 trick! :)

Right, if we tag Samuel then he's stuck either sitting out, playing the year for the money, doing a long term deal with us or doing a long term deal with some other team with whom we can work out a deal. If we don't tag him, like Givens, then the Jets certainly could get involved.

Thanks, the workbook has been updated.

Do you think Dillon will be cut?

Cut - no
Take a pay cut - possible
Retire - probable

Back from Tedy??Only if they ask for the money back. What are the chances of that?? I say none. Will the Patriots gain cap space if he retires even without asking Tedy to return some of his signing bonus money?? Yes.
