first off, our Offense will be fine. as long as #12 is behind center we will score lots and lots of points. I am 100% confident we will be rolling up scoreboards any time now-with or without Hernandez...

more importantly, our defense looks really really good.

we gave up 20 points yesterday, but keep in mind, 3 points came after our defense went 3 and out and the cards settled for a FG after bradys pick...and 7 points came on a 2 yard drive where they barely squeaked in on a WR screen on 3rd down...

we are fine. stop worrying...our defense, after years and years of frustration looks really good. chandler jones has a non-stop motor and wreaks havoc seemingly on every play. our Linebacking crew is ridiculous. spikes mayo and hightower. how do you get better than that. when we needed our D to get off the field yesterday it did. the cards had 1 sustained drive where they really only got 1 big play which included a 15 yard late hit.

We must be in good shape. I haven't seen you with a positive attitude about the pats in.....well.....let me think about it......there was that one time......nope, first time ever!

I believe you are correct. As you saw yesterday I was not in that bad of a mood after the game; very unlike me. Like you said, the defense looks good for the first time in years and we still have Tom Brady under center. A combination that should have us playing very deep into the playoffs. This year we will finish the job.

True, right now our defense looks like the real deal. I still would like to see them go against a top offense and have similar success, but this is very encouraging for our chances in January.

Now we just need to get the offense issues sorted out, because another performance like that from the offense will be a loss regardless of how great the defense plays.

I'm not Mr. Doom and Gloom, but I'm not Mr. Koolaid either. The defense has done a nice job against 2 inferior offenses. Let's see what they can do against a team with a lot of weapons (A much improved Baltimore Offense next week). Let's see them make a game saving defensive stop, let's see them sack the QB more than once a game, I'm not annointing them the next great defense. I am happy the direction the defense is going, looks like our front 7 can be a darn good one.

No doubt the defense looks good thus far and you could be right. However it may be too early too make that verdict. Titans and Cardinals aren't exactly offensive juggernauts We will see where the defense stands after next week when they play the much improved Ravens offense and the Broncos in a few weeks.

Never thought I'd say this, but I wish our offense and special teams could rise to the level of the defense.

while the cardinals/titans may not be offensive juggernauts, holding fitzgerald to 1 catch for 4 yards is pretty impressive.

if this was last year, Kolb wouldve had 300+ yards, and fitzgerald wouldve had 100+yards with 2tds

Yes even with our sometimes clumsy offense if we go 10-6 or 11-5 I feel good thanks to the defense. I do think 15-1 but its a better feeling than the past 5 or 6 years.

It's early, but it may be our best defense since 2004, now can the offense pull their heads out of their butts?

So after 2 weeks against less than average QBs we are proclaiming we ave a good defense?

It looks better than last year for sure, but save the GOOD proclamation after Manning in 2 weeks.....Flacco might not be a pushover either.

D is much better this year

The one thing that stands out to me this year is the closing speed of our D combined with the fact that players have been out of position considerably less, in the 2 games we've seen this year.

Through two games they have looked better than they did at any time of 2011. They held up well yesterday and put the clamps on the Tits last week. :D

Yes, this D is very very good and will hopefully make the jump to great by season's end. Last year made guys like Chad Henne, Matt Moore, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Dan Orlovsky look like competent NFL quarterbacks. We're getting there, guys. It's not an overnight process, but things are going very well.

EDIT: Dear Lord, we even let Rex Freakin Grossman go for 250 and 2 TD's last year. God was that defense pitiful. How that team got to the Super Bowl is a freakin miracle.

Defence looks good and I'm liking the three LBs in Mayo, Spikes & Hightower. Still think there's some weakness in the secondary, though. Having said that, the secondary did a great job of nullifying Larry Fitzgerald on Sunday.

2009 game 2: offense scored 9 points in a loss to the Jets, including 0 in the second half. Brady had a passer rating of 53.1.

2010 game 2: offense scored 14 points in a loss to the Jets. Brady threw 2 INTS and ended up with a 72.5 QB rating. That didn't stop Brady from ending up as the league MVP or the Pats from finishing 14-2.

It's not unheard of for the offense to have an early game in which they struggle to find their timing and rhythm. They usually manage to "pull their heads out of their butts" and end up doing pretty well. I doubt this season will be different.

The defense looks better but let's keep in mind that they've played two teams that ranked 21st and 24th in scoring offense last season. And the starting QB's: one making his first ever NFL start and the other a total bum.

Let's see how they hold up against Baltimore's new no huddle offense. And then against Peyton Manning in week 6. I'm guessing not that well.
