Sigh. PFT is at it again:

TUNA CALLS IT QUITS
At a time when it was looking like Cowboys coach Bill Parcells would be back for the 2007 season, and possibly beyond, the Tuna has called it quits after four years with the team.

League and media sources tell us that the early scuttlebutt regarding a replacement is focused on Chargers defensive coordinator Wade Phillips and Patriots coach Bill Belichick. We wouldn't be surprised in the least to learn that owner Jerry Jones is making a run at Belichick.

It's been confirmed "by a league official who has access to coaches' contracts" that Belichick is signed next year.

Would Jones really be willing to play "All your draft picks are belong to the Patriots" just to get Belichick?

Not that I'm buying it but on this horrible, cloudy, sh!tty, depressing as hell day . . . if Dallas offered their #1 for Belichick would you take it IF you assumed he'd leave for nothing in 12 months.

They'd have to offer their #1 this year, their #1 next year, their #2 this year, their #2 next year, and probably about $20,000,000 in cash.

And that would only be if BB wanted to leave. Very, very, very, very, very, very, very unlikely.

BB isn't going anywhere without Brady.

This is a non-starter. One of BB's biggest problems in Cleveland was an owner who didn't know how to stay out of the way. BB has the perfect owner in Kraft, and he'd leave that to work for the meddling Jerry Jones? I'm 100% sure Belichick would retire from coaching before working for Jones.

Not to mention coaching T.O. and Terry Glenn.

Belichick is done following Parcells around and coaching in his shadow.

Hell no. We got 2 #1s, a #2 and a #3 and WTF good did it do us with Bobby Grier and Petey Poodle running things? BelichickFan, your namesake is the MAN.

But I don't believe any of this stuff anyway. Why would BB want to leave?

Didn't we learn that lesson when Parcells left? All the picks in the world don't mean anything if we have another Pete Carroll and Bobby Greer-like management team.

God, I hate thinking about that.

The same people who are promoting the ridiculous "BB to Dallas!!!" rumors are the same people who came out with the "BB is looking to leave in a year and he really likes Houston" bull****.

BB will leave as soon as Pioli moves to his beloved NY Giants, which is not in the next few years.

Although it probably won't happen for a while is anyone else already dreading the day when Belichick leaves and/or Brady retires? I figure we have another 5-6 years.

Must be the Bostonian in me but I am not looking forward to those years. Hopefully at least we will still have the Krafts looking out for us.

I just want 1 more SB win before 2010. Just so every stupid writer and dumbass analyst who always take cheap shots at the Pats are forced to mention them when talking about the best teams of all time. With 3 wins they are in the discussion, but 4 would really shove it down all the experts throats who constantly downplay their success.

Yes, which is why I feel such a huge loss - we had it right in the palm of our hand yesterday (or so it seemed) and then we let it slip away.

pheenix, I was thinking about that today. Brady's in through 2010 IIRC, and I would expect BB to stay that long. Evidently, Pioli feels he's got plenty of time to work his magic elsewhere if he so desires. Seymour's in through 2011 I believe. Hopefully, that core wants more rings (plural) so we can always have those bragging rights.

After that? Down to earth (if, of course, gravity doesn't just grab us earlier than that.) But I've dealt with lean years before, and I'll deal with them again.

Just not quite yet.

just a rumor created for just that...rumor...
kraft vs jones where would BB go...its stupid...these rumor mongers just pick some coach's name which is high profile and create news...not worthy of even thinking all the reasons it wont happen

Now if they started a rumor that parcells may end up back in NE as some kinda scouting consultant with pioli it would make a more believeable rumor.
