Most people believe that the Pats need to pick up a receiver, with Hernandez out. Even though he is listed as a tight end, he is far more of a wr/h back type.

So, if Belichick decides to add a WR, who should it be, Branch, Gaffney, Stallworth or the one behind the curtain????

That is of course, he does pick up a WR. Will they go with just two tight ends????

Are you satisfied with a WR corps of Lloyd, Welker, Edelman, Salas and Slater????

BTW, did Salas dress and play?????

You sure start a lot of threads.

I'll be happy with either one of Branch or Gaffney.

But please, at least bring in one of them.

They should have had at least one of Branch/Gaffney on the team even before the injury. Now they should sign both. It's an "all in" year, and this guy's screwing around with stiffs at the bottom of the roster instead of loading up to prevent the sort of thing we saw today.

Stallworth is a washed up WR that was not getting Seperation.

Gaffney has an injury,at least that is what I read.

So it's either Branch or no one added on the roster and they just use Edelman more.

i doubt any will be back before the balt game IMO even if we need them

Yep,I expect to see more of that TE whothefu(kareyouii this weekend then a well established vet that can come in a plug the hole.

Enough of these JAGs,let's get some vet talent back.

Gaffney...if not...then Branch

Mo made a very good observation in regards to the offensive set...it seems McD wanted to implement a TE heavy offense...with the Ahern injury, he better be looking at the three wide packages like they showed last season because what the Pats are going to get from a Fells or Shiancoe sure doesn't pose the threat that a Gaffney/lLoyd/Welker set would.

Why is Salas on the 53? if he isnt going to be used. At this point I would bring in TWO, Branch and either Gaffney or Stallworth.

Belichick needs to shift out of "stubborn" mode.

but will he? I don't think so

It may be foolish to say this in only week 2 and after only one loss...but unless some moves are made to talent up the bottom portion of nothing but emergency players who may never play and not get vets resigned who can help out immediately may add more strength to those people that believe the SB loser jinx theory.

The preseason personnel decisions have decimated the WR core. Making matters worse, Belichick has inexplicably determined that a stiff like Edelman is more deserving of playing time than Welker (the NFL leader in receptions over the past 5 seasons).

I would bring back Branch and Gaffney at least and get this offense back to the passing led attack that made them the most productive and feared offense in the NFL. Their offense is at its best no huddle, spread out, up tempo, and aggressive. Period. If they don't find their way back to that soon then they will win nothing of significance this season.

For a single game, there's not really much of a reason to dress 4 WRs (excluding Slater). By dressing 3 WRs, all they lose is the ability to use 3 WRs after one injury. They can still use 3 WRs if all are healthy, and they can still use 2 WRs after one injury. If the adjustment to Hernandez's absence is more 3-WR plays, then we're going to see a #4 WR being active. Ideally, it will be Salas, but you never know with Branch and Gaffney still out there. The roster moves or lack thereof at WR early this week should tell us a lot.

To answer the question, Gaffney. Wouldn't complain with Branch.

I don't think talent was the issue today, even without Hernandez, but I think it would be an issue against a team like the Ravens or Jets. The issue today was how badly the Pats continued to play into the strengths of the Cardinals defense. There was no question they could move the ball when they decided to get out of "we're going to run until it works" mode.

It doesn't get much more wrong than this, as today demonstrated quite convincingly.
