Report: Hernandez out up to 6 Weeks

Aaron Hernandez ankle not broken, but out up to six weeks | ProFootballTalk

this is good news IMO. He should be back by early November, perhaps after the London trip. i mean im not happy, but this is better than what it could have been.

We just have to get over the ravens and broncos. the rams may be tough since they have a good offense.

bring back branch or gaffney and hope for the best for the next two months.

going to suck without him...hopefully it's only 6 weeks. He still has to have a MRI tomorrow. I think we can beat Den without him especially at home. I have them losing next week regardless of if he was playing or not.

BTW how hurt is wilfork? I was at the game today and he got hurt early in the 4th..was limping bad but came back in the game i believe

Thankfully, we have the in-season IR. This will be our move. Deion Branch. Come on down! Wiflfork played on the final series after he got hurt. Should be ok. Gonna be a hostile environment next Sunday Night.

good news to hear, but we are going to have to pick up another WR for the next 6 weeks while he is out....give branch or gaffney a call maybe?

Hmmm, guess I'll burst your bubble since no one else has: We already used that on Shaineco, or however you spell it. Hernandez will be an inactive on gameday's for the next 6 weeks or going to IR for the season.

If I am not mistaken the Patriots already used the in-season IR on Visanthe Shiancoe, so they don't get an extra roster spot.

Update on Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez' Injury
By: Ian Logue

Some good news following Sunday’s injury to Aaron Hernandez, it appears that for now he’s at least not lost for the season.

According to WBZ Hernandez suffered a high ankle sprain and x-rays were negative, which was at least a good sign. He was later seen by reporters on crutches and in a walking boot, but hopefully this means that he’ll at least be back later in the season....

Hernandez out a "few" weeks

New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez is expected to miss a few weeks due to his injured right ankle, a source told ESPN.com.
Hernandez's absence would force the Patriots to adjust without one of their best offensive weapons. There is not an exact timetable for Hernandez's return, but the star tight end will not play against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3, the source said.
According to the source, Hernandez likely will not return until October at the earliest.

Sounds like he could be back as early as 3 weeks! :singing:

Re: Hernandez out a "few" weeks

Supposedly it's a high ankle sprain. Hoping for the best. It would be awesome to see him back by October.

Re: Hernandez out a "few" weeks

So in other words, he will be back in two weeks, two months, or next season. But we do know he won't play Sunday night, like anyone though he would.

More of the brilliant, accurate reporting you'd expect from ESPN.

Re: Hernandez out a "few" weeks

BTW, anything less than an torn achillies is a huge plus in my book. That was my biggest fear yesterday.

He tears his achillies and not only do the Pats lose him for the season, but he may have never been the same again.

Hilarious . Everyone knows he wont play in baltimore and oct is right after that so sure einsteins at ESPN, thats great breaking news...

Would be much cooler if Shiancoe were healthy.

6 weeks is great IMO.
Is Ballard on PUP or IR?

Looked like a pretty bad sprain, I'd be surprised if he's back in 3 weeks. 5-6 sounds about right.

Ballard is on PUP but from what I have read it is highly unlikely that he will be available to play this year.

Shiancoe is on the in-season IR and won't be available for another month.

That leaves Gronk, Fells, and Hoomanawanui at the moment.

Silvestro could be re-signed if necessary.

I don't like posting this. But, it is likely that the high ankle sprain will bother him all season.

I doubt if we see the AH that we are use to seeing, even when he does come back. I hope that is wrong but everyone I've talked to and listened to say that it will bother him all season to one degree or another..

BB is usually very conservative when bringing players back from injury. He may give him an extra week or two ("He is getting close " he will say in his pressers) and bring him back after thanksgiving if we are playing okay without him.
