James Sanders out to prove it was a Belichick mistake to let him go

Ted is starting OL for the Bucs ( we could use him as depth now )

Paris is starting LB for the Cards and had a nice game last week...2 sacks,9 tackles

Have you actually watched the bucs, because i have. And he sucks. I wonder if he would even be playing if their og didn't blow his knee against us. The dude gets pushed around every time i see him and they are lucky their qb is mobile.

I can respect Sanders for wanting to prove to a coach that cut him that it was a mistake

I'd expect any athlete to feel that way

And just because Sanders didn't fit here doesn't mean he can't be a good contributor in another system.

The bottom line is that Belichick elevated the guys that earned a spot on his roster and cut the guys that didn't. Sanders doesn't have to take that personally - but if he wants to use it for motivation, so be it.

James Sanders knew our system and I would have liked for him to have some/most of the 2011 reps of Ihedigbo, Barrett and Brown.

All of these three made the roster instead of James Sanders. Belichick chose the three he wanted for the team (plus Chung).

I don't think that it is hindsight for us to say that the decision sucked. Almost all of said that at the time. This transaction was the major WTF moment of the 2011 off-season.

ultimately, the Pats made it to the Super Bowl...are you inferring we would have won that game if Sanders was playing for the Pats? I would disagree with that...

Agreed.

I know that some players use perceived (or real) slights against them to try and gain an advantage, to build themselves up to a higher level of energy and desire.

However, it has been my experience that real pros do so quietly, without all the thud & blunder, and without having to let everyone around them know about it.

If it's a personal slight, deal with it personally. It makes any real revenge that much sweeter.

Please, the superbowl winning pats mentioned slights in their weekly radio interviews all the time

I'd phrase this as "he made the move that he felt was in the best interest of the team."

I have a hard time believing he wanted to cut Sanders.

You could never know, actually. but i think that with him, there was a slightly better chance to win the game than with those three stooges.

I always appreciated players wanting to prove those who cut them wrong, i can always respect that and i hope he will. not against us.

For those saying that Wilson would've been better for us than Ihedigbo last year, how do you know this? Did you watch him play? I personally didn't watch a Falcons game all year, but seeing how his team didn't bother to resign him he obviously didn't impress too many people there. And btw this is coming from someone who hated the decision to cut him so I'm not trying to insist BB never makes a mistake, but maybe he really did lose a step and you can't assume he'd have been his usual self had he been here.

this is an excellent post. very concise and well thought out. i have just one question. who the hell is wilson ?

sanders was a nice roll player on the pats and maybe he will have a good on sunday... but after 8 years in the NFL on hes 3rd team and still not a full time starter the only thing he has proven is he's a career back

I made that post after 3 am after 4 hours of driving OKAY! :(

Why did you wait until 11pm to start drinking?

Sorry, I thought that your previous post read "...after 4 hours of drinking."

As Emily Litella would say, that's different; never mind.

Ted Larcen said Hi....So does this weeks opponents ILB Paris Lenon.

He has let a few go that worked out for them but it's not the norm.

Neither still would have played here.

I predict TB, Lloyd and Co. torch James Sanders personally for about 120 yds and 2 TD's today. That ought to shut young Jimmy up.

For a former Patriot, he's pretty dumb. He should probably wait til AFTER having a good game against our offense and then say.... "I was just out there to prove to BB that it was a mistake to let him go".

Doing so beforehand is just inviting a severe *****-whooping.

BB is always 4 moves ahead of the pack.....clearing S space......and patiently waiting for the arrival of........................eb...........ner. I can see BB twisting the tips of his handlebar mustache in sinister fashion .....the master plan is now under way

Ebner was NOT available to replace the reps of Sanders in the 2011 season. You may think it genius to clear space for Ebner a year before he is ready to contribute as a special teamer and #4 safety. Others think that we needed better safeties in 2011 than Brown, Barrett and Ihedigbo.

Talk about an empty threat.
