Ok, No one else is saying it, so I am....The REFS wanted Pay-A-Ton to win...

Before you start jumping down my throat, lets take a quick look at a few key plays:

1) Pass Interference on Hobbs in the End Zone, Ball placed on the one.

Um...since when does jumping straight up, not touching the reciever at all and the ball hitting your back become Pass interfeierence => result led to 7 Points.

2) 3rd and 6 Colts Drive, an Offsides penalty on Pats gives the Colts a first down

Ok, last Time I checked, Offsides was only worth 5 yards, not 6? The refs said the spot was wrong and just gave it to them...=> result led to 7 Points

3) Offensive Pass Interference on Troy Brown after Watson had a first down at the 19

...That is so bogus after the Hobbs call, Troy didn't even touch him after 5 yards???? led to us punting after another bogus motion call and a Brady sack => Result No Pats TD and put us out of even FG range!

4) Banta-Cain gets hit with a roughing the passer Penalty, 15 yards and first down

I do admit that Banta-Cain was hitting Manning hard, but on that exact call he was blocked and just managed to bump him with his back...Ummm that was pure crap => result led to 7 Points

And the 2 Illegal motion and shift calls we had against us at critical times that were called when we had first downs, the one at the end of the game really stings...we could have run the clock out!

It was the pats to win or lose in the end, but they wouldn't be in that spot if the refs didn't put them there....How many times in critical games have the refs cost us in the past 2 years? how many Rule changes have they made because of us? lets face it, they want some one else to win, not the PATS.

There were bad calls on both sides of the ball.

What killed us was piss-poor defense and the inability to sustain drives on offense.

not to mention the numerous non calls for holding by their olinemen..i cant even count how many times i saw our dline's jerseys being pulled and arms grasping both sides of them in front of the refs..

banta cain call was definately wrong.. he barely touched mannings head.. i think he was even blocked into manning..

not going to say it was the refs fault.. The TBC hit was questionable, but we lost because we did not put the colts away..

It wasn't the refs, it was the Colts.

Overall it was a little to their advantage. Not much but the TBC and the PI on Hobbs/no PI on Caldwell were enough to turn the tide. Make no mistake, the reffing was close enough that we should have still held the big lead - it's our fault we lost - but straight 50-50 reffing probably would have let us hold on too.

On number 1 you ask, "Um...since when does jumping straight up, not touching the reciever at all and the ball hitting your back become Pass interfeierence => result led to 7 Points."

The answer is "every time."

On number 4, I tend to agree with you. Unfortunately, I think the roughing the passer actually helped us out. The colts were going to score on the drive. I hate to say it, but they were. At least the roughing penalty put them near the 10 which is better as a defense anyway -- shorter field and they have to go a full 10. The only think the roughing really did, in my opinion, is make sure we actually had some time left on the clock to try to win the game.

Rename this the sour grapes thread. Even if I do tend to agree with the Hobb's and Brown calls. It's spilt milk, over, done, they won.

Are You Kidding ME, The Colts had 1 Shift penalty, 1 Offensive Holding call, and 1 Delay of game call on Manning, oh and 1 face mask which they had to call because reid had the helmut in his hands!

Doesn't seem like bad calls on both sides to me...

Sorry, We lost. Refs called a great game, IMO.

The non-call on that PI on Caldwell was atrocious. For them to get a first down when Hobbs doesn't even touch the WR and later in the game them getting away with pushing Caldwell in the endzone... it just pisses me off thinking about it. But what pisses me off more is not being able to put them away and making Chargers-esque mistakes like dropping wide open passes. We lost but the refs sure didn't help us.

Not great, but they definitely were in let'em play mode. The greatest pleasure about winning last night would have been Polian drawing a fine for his post-game antics.

I understand they won, but it would be nice to say The game was evenly played when the refs had a big hand in it again...I am getting tired of the REF's not being accountable and certains call being reviewable and others not.

Ya, tey missed the Caldwell PI. Plus, the Hobbs play was very debatable.

They almost need to allow for potential reviews on PI calls.

They made a great call when Wayne tripped over himself.

Yes -there were some questionable calls.

But the Patriots still had every opportunity to win the game and didn't.

The right team is going to the Super Bowl.

No whining, no excuses from me. Congratulations Colts.

I belive this is a must, especially if it happens in the endzone the ball is placed on the one...that has to be reviewable...

I am impressed with the participants here. I really admire your not laying it on the refs. I am a Charger fan and we had some really classless Pats fans all week at the Charger forum leading up to yesterday's game. I tip my cap to all that refused to blame the refs. GREAT Game, I am sorry for your loss.

The initial angle really looked like PI... though perhaps the ball couldn't have been caught.

The other camera clearly showed that there was no contact. Amazing how much one angle could look like PI and the other, none.
