That's a historical draft. We do not have any probowlers from the 2009 nfl draft, which is disappointing considering we had 4 second round picks and two 3rds.

Looks to me like 2011 and especially 2012 are shaping up to be strong draft classes.

Does anyone miss Scott Pioli?

Vollmer may not be a pro bowler from the '09 class, but was All-Pro Second Team in 2010, which is a higher honor. Edelman and Chung also came from that class, and it looks like Brace is not a total bust either. Pretty darn good considering we traded out of the first round.

Gronk and Hernandez in one draft....amazing

It's about time to recognize some things about him. He probably did more things right than wrong, but ..... I just don't see him competing favorably with Caserio.
My mind isn't working; has Caserio interviewed for any GM jobs around the league or been asked to do so? I seem to recall him turning down a job interview somewhere but could be mistaken.

Sarcasm? If not, you set the bar a little high, there :p

In general, I don't think it's fair to praise the team for drafting Gronk (who fell due to questionable back health) while not praising them for drafting Vollmeer (who fell due to questionable back health). The same calculated risk was taken both times, and both players have shown themselves to be top-tier when healthy. To evaluate the picks differently is basically just pure hindsight in action.

Pioli has done quite well drafting in K.C., so I don't see any reason to be calling him out, if that's what you mean.

Belichick needed to execute a slam dunk of a draft that year... and that's exactly what he did.

Pretty sure Caserio interviewed with, and turned down, Chicago this past off-season.

Pioli isn't too well liked by quite a few KC fans.

Cassel seems to be whats stuck in their craw and they blame Pioli

No that was former director of pro personnel Jason Licht, who is now in Arizona. I believe..

Caserio turned down a interview with the Colts last year.

No disrespect meant to Belichick but finding those two in one draft is almost as lucky as drafting the GOAT in the 6th round. :cool2:

Belichick would be the first to agree that the draft is a bit of a crap shoot.

What's clear is that Belichick has wanted to implement this type of TE oriented offense for years - leading to the ongoing joke dating back a decade of him always drafting TEs.

THIS is why folks - and although Belichick always seeks the best match for his system (to the point of critics often accusing him of "reaching") he's struck out plenty of times.

Luckily Belichick doesn't exacerbate any mistakes by keeping players around when they haven't earned a role - regardless of where they were drafted or how much they're paid.

So there's a bit of luck here - but credit Belichick for having the vision and tenacity to create just this type of offense!

I'm reliably informed that Piolo keeps a sledgehammer close on game day so he can randomly pick out Chiefs players to injure during the season. Kansas City has been obliterated by injuries in recent times.

The KC fanbase has a lot of people who've been so ruined by the previous regimes that they're completely unreasonable in their expectations.

I don't know why, he's built such a powerhouse in KC:D

Most of us were mad that we didn't get more than a 2nd...

That was just the homer in us clouding our judgement. I was mad at first too, but then thought about it. Matt Cassel for a second round pick? If ever there was a "sell high" opportunity, that was it. Done. Thanks Scott :D

And then he signed him to that stupid contract to top it off.
