AFC EAST
Good topics for discussion
1. Did you expect the Patriots defense to be this good?
2. How much better can the Patriots offense be when it comes together and what team/era could you compare them to?
3. Are even the Jets surprised by their total points?
4. What % of the real Bills did we see on Sunday?
5. Miami: This topic intentionally left blank.
NY Jets [UP] (1-0, Won 48-28 vs Buffalo, Next: @Pittsburgh)

What the Jets Did Well
- Defense accounted for 4 turnovers (3 INT, 1 FR).
- Sanchez was fairly efficient 9.9 YPA. Does it hurt as much to read it as it did for me to write it?
- Offense went 10-14 for 3rd down conversions.
- Average starting field position (Jets 37)
Problem Areas
- 2 fumbles.
- low yards per rush (3.3 on 36 attempts)
- no sacks
Ponder this for next week
- See how they respond to against a better team and on the road/Defense as advertised?.
- Was this game the norm or best case scenario for the Jets.
New England [UP] (1-0, Won 34-10 @Tennesee, Next: vs Arizona)
What the Pats Did Well
- Balanced offense (31 passes to 35 rushes).
- Key contributions from many players.
- Left points on the board and still scored 34
- Defense looked to be improved - fast/physical/disciplined.
- Dominant run defense (1.3 avg on 16 carries)
Problem Areas
- Big plays in secondary.
- TB taking hard hit (bit of a reach here)
- Running was good, but there were a number of runs that resulted in no or negative yards
Ponder this for next week
- Offensive improvement. How scary a prospect this must be for DCs.
- Can we maintain the consistency on defense.
- WW getting more throws (3 receptions on 5 targets for game1).
Buffalo [DOWN] (0-1, Lost 28-48 vs Jets, Next: vs Kansas City)
What the Bills Did Well
- 3 good TD drives, 1 solid TD drive.
- Defense held running game of Jets to 3.3 average.
Problem Areas
- Turnovers on offense
- Inconsistency on offense
- Passing defense
- Injuries. though they've been weathering this for the last year or two
Ponder this for next week
- Defense hasn't come together, can it still happen for the Bills to be a dangerous team to play.
- Inverse of the Jets - Is this the norm or a worst case scenario.
Miami [EVEN] (0-1, Lost 10-30 @Houston, Next vs Oakland)
What the Bills Did Well
- Bueller, Bueller...Ferris Bueller?
- Reggie Bush seemed to be the brightest player on offense.
- Possibility of a high first round pick in the draft.
Problem Areas
- Playing football games on Sunday.
- Until proven otherwise, they are who we thought they were going to be.
- 0-3 on 4th downs (ouch)
Ponder this for next week
- Next episode of Hard Knocks being renamed to Hard Times.
- With Oakland coming to town, can they gain some confidence with a good game.
