I read that the Cardinals, the Pats next opponent, are going to sign Brian Hoyer as their backup. They have had horrible problems with Skelton and Kolb and now Skelton is hurt. Signing Hoyer would give them some insight into the Pats playbook.

I am searching for more data.

Well, at least we now know how they are going to try to beat the Pats. Not a bad move by them, but there is a difference between knowing what's coming and being able to defend it.

I suspect that there have been quite a few changes in the past few weeks..

Can't you just see McDaniels the Mad Scientist considering this a challenge to come up with some stuff that Hoyer has never seen? He'll put the O in a formation that Hoyer thinks he knows, then they'll do something totally different.

What did Hoyer do to deserve such a grizzly fate?

Find absolutely nothing...pure speculation...

Only thing I could find was from Jason Sullivan on weei facebook claiming the Cardinals should pick up Hoyer.

What did Hoyer do to deserve such a grizzly fate?

IDK, a lot of good golf courses in AZ, mild winters, it's cheap to live, and the team and fans usually pack it in by November. Sounds like Hoyer could have a good life during his off time.

Where precisely did you read this? And were you the one to write it before you read it?

I read it in an email from a friend in California. He has been right on other things he has sent me. However, where I hadnt read it myself, that is why I put the question marks in the subject line. I am searching for more.

The only place I have seen Hoyer's name mentioned is in John Clayton's "Last Call" where he says:

With the Broncos and Rams keeping only two quarterbacks, you have to wonder if both teams will look at Mike Kafka, Brian Hoyer, Sage Rosenfels, Billy Volek, Kellen Clemens and some of the other available backups. Fourteen teams kept only two quarterbacks on their rosters, and seven don't have quarterbacks on their practice squad.

Doesn't say anything about the Cardinals, specifically, however.

Hopefully get a jobs soon, he was a good team player here.

I don't think he will provide any special insight that isn't on the tape already.

I agree. Its really a shame for him that he was on a team that had a quarterback of all pro proportions that played just about every down of every game and that Hoyer had relatively no chance of being the starter.

He deserves a better shot at becoming a starter on another team and the Cardinals just might be the right fit for him.

If they do he'll be the starter by week 8

You should have put that information in your original post instead of trying to make the info seem more credible than a friend's email.

Have you seen the way the Patriots treat opposing QBs lately? The surgeon general will be issuing warnings regarding Chandler Jones fer soon.

Re: Cardinals to sign Hoyer???

He couldn't beat out Ryan Mallett ;)

I don't think Hoyer lost the QB competition to Mallet, I think Hoyer lost the roster/salary game.

He was making too much and we couldn't afford 3 QB's on the roster. Do you drop Mallet who is under contract for multiple seasons? No. I think the team is comfortable with Mallet, but would prefer Hoyer if they were capable of keeping both, but other positions needed the depth more than QB.
