Just to point out, he took sole possession of 5th place all time on the TD list today, ahead of Elway.

He's now 40 behind Tarkenton in 4th, which he has a chance to match this season. You'd have to fancy him to do it anyway, but it's highly unlikely he'll reach Goober in 3rd place (who is currently sat on 399).

In terms of passing yards all time, he's just 24 behind Johnny U in 13th place. It's very close though, there's 5 QB's within about 3,000 yards, so you'd expect him to get ahead of Fouts in 9th by the end of the year. If he gets close to last year, he'll actually overtake the man he replaced - Drew Bledsoe, who is currently on 44,611 yards.

Ahead of that, Turnpike Vinny is 7th all time with 46,233, whilst Tarkenton is 6th on 47,003. The one Joker in the pack though is Drew Brees, who is part of the equation (he's currently in 10th place with 41,081 after today's games). Either way, after the next two seasons, I expect Brady to be ahead of Tarkenton, but just behind Moon, with Brees moving into 5th all time on about 50,000 yards (and he'll be just the fifth QB ever to reach that milestone).

It might be a strange thing to say, but I think we take Tom's greatness for granted. And it is greatness.

And some kudos to Goober and Brees too. We're witnessing a golden era and three of the absolute all time best to every ply their trade. Thankfully one of them is ours.

Sorry if I'm hijacking the thread, but please do not put Brees in the same class as Brady and P Manning. Two of the greatest of all-time and one perennial pro bowl player. Large difference.

Has led the NFL in TDs 3 of last 4 years, led in yards 2 of last 4 and led in completion pct the last three years. Statistically, he's right there with Brady and he's two years younger. He has a Super Bowl on his resume. You better get used to the fact that Brees will likely finish ahead of Brady in the record books and almost certainly end up Canton.

He's done all that playing over half of his games every year in a dome (8 at home + 1 in Atlanta) as well as a game in Tampa, it isn't like he has to play in freezing conditions with wind/rain/snow.

Peyton Manning has a ****load of gaudy statistics. Would you prefer him ahead of Brady too?

Brees had 52 pass attempts today, 52!!!

I didn't say I preferred Brees, I said his bust is probably going to be sitting next to Brady's, so it's a little lame to say he's not on Brady and Manning's level.

Whoop-de-do.

He's not on the same level as Brady. He's a very, very good QB. Nobody ever talks about Brees as the GOAT. Brady and Manning on the other hand...

Never take a game for granted when he is out there. One day he will be gone and will only live on in memory. We are watching one of the greatest QBs to ever walk the earth and are lucky. Love every second of it...but the thought it always in the back of my mind..what will i do the day he is gone.

It will be fun telling my kids all about him and how amazing he was :rocker:

Michael Vick was in the 50's today also. At least Bees is competent enough to do it...its a rough day when you're asking Michael Vick to throw 50 times.

There's a fine line between being considered and not being considered. I think Brees falls just below that line.
