Clyde Gates: Cut by Dolphins, Good enough for the Jets

Clyde Gates gets a second chance, in New York | ProFootballTalk

Jets jump in with roster claims on 2 players not good enough to make the Dolphins squad (and 1 49er too) and cut players who were in their camp and made their team.

Funny they cut Antonio Allen the safety who I believe got a fair amount of ball-washing at JI during the pre-season.

Also, as the article states, Gates knows Sporano's offense. Three and out can take some WR's a long time to get used to.

Danny Woodhead... that is all

I would claim LB Josh Kaddu, waived by the doofins, and drop Mike Rivera in a heartbeat.

The Jets were an 11-5 team that year.
The Dolphins are 10 players short of an NFL caliber 53 man roster, and are especially weak at WR, one of the spots the Jets grabbed one of their cuts at.
So, no, that is not all.

And that compares to actual transactions made by actual NFL executives in what way?

That's a little catty, no? Think the point was that there can be value in looking at players other teams cut, even sub-par teams.

It was 100% wise-@ss but there were 200 players cut this week that some fan likes better than some player who made a roster.
That really doesn't compare to actual transactions made.
Its like me saying Hoyer is a starting NFL QB in the face of evidence no one who gets paid to make that call believes it.

Yeah, I get that, but that's sort of what we do here, right? Shoot the #@&! about stuff.

I fixed a mistake in my post, not that anyone would care but me. I meant there can be value in signing guys cut from sub-par teams.

I don't think that is the issue in dispute.

The issue is saying player X is better than player Y, why didn't we cut someone and take him?

I believe this is referred to as 'Sign the Beast Syndrome'.
