CB Darius Butlet (Carolina)
CB Jonathan Wilhite (Chicago)
QB Zac Robinson (Cincinnati)
LB Gary Guyton (Miami)
WR Tiquan Underwood (Tampa Bay)
None of these seems remotely interesting. Maybe Tiquan.
Raised my eyebrows when Molden was picked up by the Giants.
Terrence Wheatley IR'd Tennessee
Ex-Pats let go Friday (53): Darius Butler, Gary Guyton, Dan Gronkowski, Isiah Stanback, Jonathan Wilhite, Zac Robinson, Tiquan Underwood, Russ Hochstein
Ex-Pats let go during Monday's (75) cuts: Thomas Clayton, Landon Cohen, Thomas Austin, Antwaun Molden, Matt Katula, Kade Weston, Thomas Welch.
In my opinion the only one that is somewhat surprising is Underwood.
I think the Guyton cut is surprising. I would consider bringing him back if I was BB. Can play inside and out, knows are schemes and is extremely athletic LB. I know he was in the dog house toward the end of the year but he was decent player earlier in his career.
Guyton >>>> Rivera, White, Niko & Tarp.
Seriously, no he isn't. And its not even close.
Yes he is, and so is Carpenter.
Considering how much this forum was in agreement in wanting to run Guyton out of town in 2010 and 2011 for being such a liability on defense, I'm mildly surprised that anybody brought up the consideration of his returning to the Pats.
Then again perhaps I should not be surprised (part of the grass is always greener syndrome: hate the player when he's here, love him once he's gone).
I think it was quite obvious that BB lost faith in him last year based on how often he was a healthy inactive. For a player whose weakness was against the run but whose strength was speed he didn't particularly impress in pass coverage. Do we really expect him to suddenly improve at this point? I would say that at minimum other players such as Rivera have more of a potential upside. Guyton was a good story his rookie year but I think at this point we know his ceiling, and it's doesn't appear to be that high.
Man did Darius Butler fall hard and fast, or what?
