Tom E Curran, twitter tag @tomecurran , Asked the question today, would you trade brady for 1st pick next year to pick barkley? Matt Barkley is a helluva quarterback and for sure he looks to be a great QB but what would you do knowing that brady is in the twilight of his career? Do you keep him? or do an indianapolis colts move and try to think about the future?

I honestly would think about it before committing to it. because there aren't that many qb's out there in college football who even come close to being like matt barkley. Thoughts?

yeah...no thanks..proven..vs not proven

Oh god not this again.

Hell no, this team is in position to win a championship. As Herm Edwards once said you "play to win the game!".

I would trade a 38 year old Brady for the #1 overall pick to grab an Andrew Luck type of prospect. Otherwise, no.

Id have to agree with this completely

Matt may look good, but so did leaf and look what happened, heck even mr. luck may suck we just don't know

plus im pretty sure Brady's 4 yrs (at least) are all going to be more productive than Matt's first 4 years

ps. the colts also had the injury to consider in their decision making

Too much to pay for Malletts back up

All good points. I was just wondering what my fellow patsfans.com members thought since i was scrolling through my feed and that stuck out. I have never thought about trading him but i just know that one day we will have to say goodbye to brady. Heres hoping that brady stays healthy and bring us another ring before his departure.:)

I'm sure the Jets fans are having the same argument about Sanchez. Or Tebow. Package deal?

Hell, they have a shot at #1 on their own. Revis or Mangold goes down and it's hello 2-14.

Is this a joke? Tom Brady for a USC quarterback? (Cassel barely counts because he didn't even start)

Ridiculous idea.

You have got to stop drinking that 99 cents a gallon rotgut wine.

Well, there's this little thing called the salary cap that pretty much prevents that from happening.

But if it were theoretically possible to get out of the salary cap hits somehow, I'm sure BB would at least think about it.

You think about if for an Andrew Luck. You laugh about it over a Matt Barkley.

Of course, when does a USC QB not work out?

For all we know, Ryan Mallett could be a better QB for us than Barkley. And he wouldn't cost Brady. Regardless... no, no, and no to that trade idea.

no i would not. Barkley projects to be a good QB, but nothing is for certain. I just look at Matt Leinart as proof that nothing is for sure.

move this please, or lock, or send to a Jets board

That would be just too dumb a trade for a QB who might be closer to Matt Linerart in ability than Andrew Luck. A Luck like QB would be at least worth the discussion. Anything else isn't worth the bother

I don't think anyone on here loves Barkley as much as I do. I think he has the best pocket awareness of any college QB I've seen and he actually reminds me of Brady in that regard. He has decent arm strength, good accuracy and already makes pro throws. I actually had him rated higher than both Luck and RG3 last draft, so this is probably a tougher decision for me than most. But even then its an easy no. As Froob said this team is ready to win now, so a straight swap doesn't make sense. If it was an RG3 type package with three 1's and two 2's I would certainly consider it, but straight up no way. However, if we could get Barkley for Mallet and our 1st this year would make that trade in a heartbeat. I think Barkley will be a superstar.
