Rex Ryan: "These Jets could be best I've had"

re: Rex Ryan: "These Jets could be best I've had"

Rex will be unemployed before the end of the season. What a buffoon.

I hope not. He is fun to watch and fun to hear what comes out of his mouth. And he would keep the Jets in mediocrity for a while. So I would like him to be the HC for the next decade.

re: Rex Ryan: "These Jets could be best I've had"

Yeah, Rex. These Jets are the best you've ever had if the objective is to see how many field goals you can attempt in a season.

Anyone else happy that Gostkowski holds the record for PAT attempts and not FG attempts? :)

re: Rex Ryan: "These Jets could be best I've had"

Their defense will keep them in games this year. We shouldn't underestimate their D.

Every time his guy speaks, I just think of him with a Boso the clown red nose

re: Rex Ryan: "These Jets could be best I've had"

This is the bombasity that the NY Press revels in and draws interest to the PSL's....

Unfortunatelyfor the fans, for the NYJ it is not about winning, but being the most popular football team in NY...PT Barnum lives.

The Jets pretty much said ef u to their longtime fans when they went to those PSL's. Those are the people for which I have the most sympathy. They got screwed.

re: Rex Ryan: "These Jets could be best I've had"

Rex really can't help himself can he? He is like a crack addict. He tries to quit bragging to the media, but he just can't.

The apple didn't fall far from the tree.

Great point! (no pun intended). 74 is a record that might stand the test of decades.

re: Rex Ryan: "These Jets could be best I've had"

He likely got a memo from Woody to stop shutting up.

Well that's the problem with the Jets. They have an owner whose only qualifications to be an owner is winning the gene pool lottery. He is no better than Jim Irsay or Mike Brown in that area. Look at Woody Johnson's bio and you won't find much to support the premise he knows how to run a billion dollar organization. His only business experience is owning an investment firm which he has had someone else run at least since 1997 probably since it was founded in 1978. Otherwise, he has done charity work (rich people speak for busy work and giving money to attend galas and functions). He was just lucky his grandfather was co-founder of Johnson & Johnson.

Best you've had for what, Rex...dinner? It sure looks like your team is going to have it's lunch handed to them often this season. Good ol' Rex - pure comedy genius.

... could be the best...

and I could have less than 5% body fat... if I really tried.

I could have had a V8!

re: Rex Ryan: "These Jets could be best I've had"

Their defense will keep them in games this year. We shouldn't underestimate their D.

Their D Line will be good against the run; they've added nothing that improves the pass rush significantly, and it was bad last year.

Their linebackers will be good against the run, but are too slow to be good against the pass, as rushers or in coverage.

They've got one great CB, one good CB, and two safeties that are injuries in waiting and poor against the pass even when healthy.

And their depth is terrible, across all three units.

It will be an OK defense, but not dominant enough to win games for them all on their own.

re: Rex Ryan: "These Jets could be best I've had"

The other thing to watch for is that, if the offense keeps putting the D in bad situations, the Jets players will not keep quiet about it.

As far as Ryan's claim, does this mean he reads/posts on JI? Because they were saying the same thing a few weeks ago.

re: Rex Ryan: "These Jets could be best I've had"

If the best the Jets can do is sign players the Dolphins released, there must be a grand plan we're missing.

Step One: Bring in Tim Tebow to cause a QB controversy and short-arm passes into the chests of defensive linemen

Step Two: Bring in Tony Sparano to fist-pump on the sidelines while calling plays that only work between the 30 yard lines

Step Three: Bring in Sanjay Lal to be wide receivers coach but fail to have any wide receivers (what did this guy ever do to have this job? Sanjay Lal - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia )

Step Four: Sift through the Dolphins' dumpster for players who suck even more than the ones the Jets already have

Step Five: Get Rex Ryan to bloviate like always to fool Commissioner Goodell into thinking you are just incompetent

Step Six: Go 1-15 and take QB Matt Barkley out of USC #1

And then have Barkley just say "no" as Elway did, and continue with the suckage.
