Demps appears to be okay

Good to hear. Demps is a nice player but do you think he's more of a novelty act? I dunno but he gives me an impression of a player looks pretty fragile out there. I know he'sa sprinter but an NFL season/eventual playoffs is more like a marathon. Wonder if he's cut out?

He's really a football player who happens to be really fast. I wouldn't consider him a novelty as he has room to grow, but it wouldn't surprise me if BB finds ways to get him the ball in space and get him to outrun the opponent until he can learn some new tricks.

BB showcased this yesterday when the pats were in a goaline formation, Demps ran out into the flat while the WR picked his man. This made it an easy catch but it was up to Demps to beat the safety, and he tripped. I wish he would run outside more and get a head of steam especially on kick returns.

I think you'll see him put on weight between now and the end of the season. I don't know what his weight was before he trained for the Olympics but I'm guessing he'll bulk up a little now that he's back in football. He's a work in progress with obviously a lot of upside because of his speed, and I think he should be interesting to watch.

Yup No Doubt he's a speedster, can be dangerous out in open field & make a BIG play here & there. Will be fun to watch just wondering about his durability.

His knee got rolled up on. No matter how durable a player is, a hit to the knee like that is going to hurt you. Everyone's knees are vulnerable, just ask Brady

What will interest me is how the new IR rule will affect roster decisions in the next 24 hours or so.

I believe that you could place someone like Demps on IR (I really don't think you need both him and Woodhead), allow him to bulk up more and get into better shape for football and then bring him back at some stage in the season depending on how you want to play things.

Seems logical. Dennard could be another candidate for such a move with his looming court case and the fact he is a little behind on his learning curve given the injury in camp.

That's because he IS fragile. I said that a week before we picked him up. But his ability makes any fragility concerns there may be. Once he gets used to NFL speed, he's going to be dangerous.

Definitely a possibility, but I doubt it will be Demps since he brings some unique skills to the table and is probably our best kick returner. My guess would be that they don't IR anyone right away, and save it in case someone like Brady or Wilfork goes down early in the season.

I though Demps looked much better than anyone else we've stuck out there this preseason. I'm glad he's ok, and hope that he showed enough to make the team. For a team that once dominated special teams, they've certainly slipped quite a ways.

Been off the net and did not realized rule finally passed!
Good point.

I would rather have him on IR, let him bulk up, and then come back next year and use Dennard as the IR call up.

We also had a scare 2 nights ago when I banged my forearm on the downstairs refrigerator door handle. 2 days and 3 aleeves later I am pleased to announce to the patsfan community that I am fine. I am okay

May I ask why you would want to do something so stupid and utterly pointless?

Demps - Team has desperate need for KR/PR upgrade. Demps is it, we hope. Occasional freak offensive weapon, but he cannot be expected to be a RB with a lot of snaps this year. Knowing the playbook inside and out, and picking up the blitz are important skills. Not Demps right now.

Is there room on the roster for a KR/PR specialist and a guy who can keep the D nervous for 10 offensive plays per game? I think so.

Woodhead - The Kevin Faulk role is still an important role for this team. Ready to hand it over to Vereen? I'm not! Woodhead has produced the last couple years, and was one of the few offensive bright spots in the Super Bowl. Why people think he is expendable I have no idea. He is the 3rd down back on this team, and likely a go to RB in the hurry up offense.

An argument that Vereen and Woodhead are redundant (though I disagree). However, Demps and Woodhead? Two different yet important roles on this team

Thank the lord Patsy...that can be a nagging injury that can seriously impact one's ability to operate the remote, type like a lunatic on the keyboard here at Patsfans on game day after every freaking play!, pop the cap off the Sam Adams bottle, and forget about trying to execute the fist pump in fat Rexy's face as you stand 1" away from the television screen when Chandler Jones slams Sancheese face first on the astroturf.......that would be murder!!! Take it easy now....you have got to be ready to go a week from Sunday......;)

It was Zach DeOssie, by the way, who caused the Demps injury. I think we should take it out on his dad.

I would have NEVER thought of that....

I am glad he is fine. He may be a good PR/KR - at least he can field punts. I imagine their must be an adjustment from a track surface to a football field surface, because he was slipping all over the place. When playing RB, he went down way too easy. He would run into his own players and fall down. I hope that gets better. It is early with this guy, so I will not get too excited about it. I can't wait to see what he playing like in a month or so.

Thank you for your support. I'm just taking my injury one day at a time, doing my best to avoid setbacks and playing it safe right now. As far as jumping out of the couch and executing a clean fist pump, it's still not there yet but each day I feel like I'm getting closer. Trainer says I should be good to go for week 1.
