For people who dont want to read through the whole story here are the rankings

Top shelf: Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady and Drew Brees
Next level: Ben Roethlisberger, Cam Newton and Peyton Manning
Knocking on the door: Eli Manning, Tony Romo, Philip Rivers, Jay Cutler and Matthew Stafford
Good enough: Michael Vick, Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco and Andrew Luck
Middle of the pack: Matt Schaub, Robert Griffin III, Andy Dalton, Carson Palmer and Josh Freeman
Tier hope: Sam Bradford, Jake Locker, Russell Wilson, Alex Smith, Matt Cassel, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Christian Ponder and Mark Sanchez :rocker:
Prove us wrong: Ryan Tannehill, Blaine Gabbert, John Skelton/Kevin Kolb and Brandon Weeden

I for one wouldn't have put Cam Newton over Rivers

No joke. But even worse, and I can't believe I am here saying this, but how about a little Eli love? The guy has won two super bowls and is coming off a monster season. Good grief....

Eli has to be Level 2 at worst. The guy is turning into a stud, like it or not.

While the irrational part of me hopes he dies a painful death, the rational part of me recognizes Eli Manning cannot be listed in Tier 3 after engineering two game winning touchdown drives in the Super Bowl. Say what you want about the Helmet Catch, there was no luck involved in that Manningham play. He's good. It sucks. Oh well.

Agreed that makes no sense, especially when you see Cam Newton in that category. He should be knocked down to "Good Enough" at most. Luck and RGIII should be knocked down to "Hope" until at least the play an actual game. Sanchez and Palmer should be in "prove us wrong" and Weeden and Tanehill should be in "Hope"

Tom Coughlin asked that he be placed there so he can play the disrespect card again.

Agreed. He's up there at Next Level. The only reason Peyton isn't Top Shelf is due to injury.

The only way this list makes any sense is if Eli and Cam somehow got switched...

I agree to an extent. I don't think that Eli is a "stud" per se, but he's won two Super Bowls and has done so by engineering final scoring drives to put his team up for good, no matter how lucky one of them was. IMO, he belongs at Level 2.

Or the 2-ringed Manning.

That has to be the case.

Newton has a lot of wow-factor to him, but the jury is still out on him in many ways. Is he just an electrifying player or a truely great QB who can run a winning offense? Ranking him in top 6 seems a bit premature, if not for anything else then based on the fact that he has only recorded 6 NFL wins thus far.

Cam newton? What the hell has he done? I'd put him good enough.

Eli, as much as I hate him, should be level 2.

Tony Romo is not better than Matt Schaub. Joe Flacco is not better than Matt Schaub. Jay Cutler (mentally) is not better than Matt Schaub. Matt Schaub should be level 3.

Carson Palmer is D.O.N.E.

I agree that Eli must be higher than this. Cam had a great rookie year but needs to confirm.

I think it's unfair to put any of the rookies in any category other than "rookie." Luck looks great, but we've got nothing but a few preseason games to definitively say he's better than, say, Ryan Tannehill.

Also, I'd put Alex Smith a tier higher. He had a good year and is "middle of the pack" in my book.

After the JETS unleash their oh so secretive wildcat offense i think we would need a whole new tier to put Tebow and Sanchez in coz they will score at will

I'll join the chorus that thinks Eli should be kicked up a bracket. I can understand saying that Big Ben or Big Brother might be a notch above him, but it kind of devalues the entire rating system to have him behind Cam Newton at this point.

Cam Newton over Eli Manning? Err.... okay. Hell, you can make a pretty reasonably case that Eli's better than anyone on level 2.

If they'd bump Eli up to level two, Newton down to level three, and just acknowledge that there's no possible way to rank Peyton or any of the rookies, this list would make a whole lot more sense to me.

I'm not goign to argue that he belongs in tier 2.

But, I see Eli as a good quarterback with moments of greatness. He's just had very opportune moments. I don't see him as getting rattled by pressure and that's his greatest assest.

Still, he doesn't seem to pull it together until post season and that's when he shines.

loool... Cam Newton as good as Peyton and better than Eli? Yeahh...
