I'd love to have him back since Aiken has been off in the preseason. Not sure if he has anything left in the tank though.

Aiken has been off?

The career of a good long-snapper can be quite long.
It's all about accuracy of the snap - not a lot of cutting, speed, other athletic skills that erode.

That said, would obviously want to know why he was released.
And yes, Aiken has had some high snaps.

Agreed that Aiken has been off this pre-season.

Others in the around the league cuts thread also agree with the observation that Aiken has been off. Bedard has commented on it. Even I noticed that he made a couple high snaps in the last game. Paxton to shadow roster at least if not brought in for a tryout unless he was cut because of a serious physical problem making him unable to snap and block.

Supposedly he got beat out by a rookie. So all things being fairly equal that could be a cost cutting move and not a decline.

Sounds like it. The new guy is about half as expensive.

I expect that we'll be seeing Paxton in NE within a few days.

Paxton is also 34 years old compared to Aiken who is 23 and will be around much longer.
