Interesting if true. Unless it goes down to the money I still think he would go back to NE if we still want him.

From what I've been reading, it would seem that the money is exactly it.

Carter is working out for Oakland today according to a ReTweet by Chris Price.

It was also that he wanted a long term contract as well, wasn't it?? Man if he didn't get hurt at the end of the year, he could've been worth it. Injury question marks too big at this point.

I honestly don't care if we don't get carter back. He was good but he wasn't peppers good etc. He got like 4.5 sacks in one game against the jets. I enjoyed it while it was happening but it felt kind of like when leigh bodden kept picking sanchez and that just raised their asking price.

I think having Carter back would be nice, but it's not nearly as much of a worry as it was way back in the spring. One could even argue that it may actually stunt the development of some of the other players, although that may be somewhat of a stretch--especially since we could use another bigger player on the line right now (not that Carter fits that specific need as much).

I'll trust Belichick's assessment on this one. That's one of the benefits of having him around.

Agreed supafly.

Would love to see Carter back. But if he;s asking for too much. Then time to move on.

Given the alternatives like Ninkovich (11.5 career sacks) and Cunningham (1 career sack), I'm not sure that being picky about Carter (10 sacks last season) getting 4 sacks in one game is really where it's at here. To me, if he's healthy and looks like he's still got his step, he's still likely to be a better bookend for Jones on passing downs than anyone else on the roster.

Just my $.02

I like the youth movement on the New England Patriots defense. In addition, there is no guarantee that Andre Carter will be 100% for the entire season.

Could you show me the guarantee that any player will be 100% for the entire season?

Feel bad for him to have to go that graveyard called Oakland if rumours are true. But I do understand if no talks are going on from the Patriots side. This is a scenario where he shouldn't be blasted if he feels like feeding his kids if both sides aren't talking.

I'd like to see Carter re-signed. He was good against both the run and pass.
The trouble is that both he and his agent feel that he should be paid like
a Pro Bowl defensive end.

On Sports Tonight (the early show, won't watch the late edition because the dirt bag Giants fan doucheossie is appearing then and he won't be on my TV, or radio, ever. Please just move to NYC and let us be.) I saw a blurb indicating that Carter is to work out for the Pats. No details...

Some of you are only thinking about his play on the field. However, it goes deeper than that. His professional, work ethic, and desire to be the best possible teammate by all accounts would have been fantastic for guys like Hightower, Jones, Bequette et al. That can't be understated since we saw just a few years ago how a bad a few FA signings can be to the locker room (AD, Springs, etc.).

Make that $.04 now. ;)

This could get the ball rolling. Maybe the Raiders won't overpay for him either and he comes back to us realizing the money he wants isnt out there.

Pretty good defensive line with Carter - Seymour - Kelly - Houston/Shaughnessy. Shaughnessy and Houston are young and quick on the outside already. Carter gives them three starting DEs which means they could pick their spots with Carter.

Breaking News: Al Davis is dead. The Oakland Raiders are going to be a very different football team without his bony hand on the helm out there. I like that team a lot.

Check out that offense: Darren McFadden, Darius Heyward-Bey, Denarius Moore. Fast and capable at the skill positions with some nice young players to provide depth. If Carson Palmer is who we hoped he was when he arrived in Cincinnati, the Raiders could win the AFC West and be a formidable playoff foe. I don't know anything about that offensive line, but HC Dennis Allen is a disciple of Sean Payton and John Fox.

That division is fascinating with Rivers, Manning, Palmer and Cassell, all playing for coaches who have been to the big game in one way or another. Sure is a step up from the AFC East.

Losing Carter would give C. Jones, Bequette, Cunningham and Scott more playing time. I'm less concerned about losing him now than I was before training camp. Especially for big money.
