Based on the first 2 preseason games Soldier doesn't seem like he is prepared to be a starting left tackle in the NFL. I still believe he will be a good one but I think he needs more seasoning.

So I have 2 questions for you all,

1. Do you think there is any chance we could lure Matt Light out of retirement? I know we have the cap space to give him a big 1yrct, but is he even close to the same size he was as a player?

2. If Vollmer is healthy and that is a big if but lets say for this question he is going to be 90-100% by week one does it make sense to use him at LT and move Soldier to RT?

Solder has not had enough of a chance yet.......give him some time.....

take the gun away from your head and put it down......gently

A few other points. An O-line acts as a whole and if you don't have someone very good next to you, you might not look very good.

You have Mallet out there calling the protections and not Brady. Solder hasn't looked terrific on some one-on-one's but I don't think he's been terrible.

I think we are doomed, he was obviously faking it during all of last season! Now that the true test, that of awesome preseason football is here, he has been exposed as the big faker he is.

First, Solder hasn't had a chance to work with the first o-line. Many of his problems can be fixed with the addition of Mankins and others.

Second, the Pats aren't scheming. That means there are no Gronk chip blocks, RB blitz pick ups, etc. Even Light benefited from those types of things.

Third, most of his problems are technique issues that are correctable.

Don't forget that Solder did fill in for Light in a couple of games last year at LT without much problem.

Am I the only one that thought Solder played better last night? He had some gaffes but a few times he played it perfectly against a good D line. RT is more of a concern if Vollmers back acts up again because Cannon looks like garbage as a tackle.

Wait ten years and then draft a replacement.

What we can do is not make snap judgments based on two preseason games. He hasn't looked good, yes. But he rebounded nicely last year after struggling early on. Give him that same chance.

Nothing. Solder is the starting LT.

Solder + Dante + Mankins next to Solder will help him with confidence and get locked in. The position I am more worried about is right tackle if Vollmer goes down for any length of time which is a very real possibility.

At this time Cannon just isn't cutting it at that spot. I hate saying that because I am inspired by his story for many reasons, but DE's don't hold off on the QB because the RT has a great story behind him. The lack of depth at RT is my one true concern on this team. Hopefully Cannon can play guard.

I'm hoping we can trade for a serviceable backup RT as I can't see many teams cutting anyone of any value to get down to 53.

First round Ts need to win one on one battles.....not get "blowed up.' Bill....make the call

Nothing wrong with considering hari kari.

Let's just cancel the season.

Is Demarco Murray available to play LT?

Adam Seward...where are you?

bingo.......repetition will get him to where he needs to be. cannon will take a little longer, but I still like him....seems to lack decisiveness....

How about we give OT Kyle Hill a shot?

My reply: Do Nothing!

This concern is way over blown in the Eagles game. Has Solder had some problems? Certainly. But the concern for the Offensive line reserves as a whole, is being over compounded onto Solder.

The Eagles pass rush came over the interior reserves, and around Cannon, primarily. They also blitzed and a LB beat Vereen the RB on blitz pickup, so what.

Did Solder get beat yes, including being bounced on his ass once, but the only sack that he "surrendered" was after he blocked the outside rusher satisfactorily, and Mallett existed the pocket and Solder's beaten guy did a cleanup sack after 5-8 seconds, when Mallett "took" the sack, rather than throwing it up for an INT.

That's not a genuine problem; it's more a Chicken Little concern...
