Well, ESPN strikes again. All 3 "reporters" pick the Colts to win. Of course Stephen A Smiff, i mean Smith is far from a reporter. He's not as bad as Shannon Sharpe, but he can't even say his last name in english, Smiff, lol.

I guess I don't understand why this bothers anyone. I think the reality is that if I were not a Patriots fan, I'd probably give the edge to the Colts. The betting public thinks the same way. They earned home field advantage and it's worth a few points in an otherwise pretty good matchup. If I were in the business of having to figure out which team had a better chance, I'd take the Colts too.

I don't think a single one of them, though, thinks it's a done deal, and I haven't heard anyone suggest that the Patriots aren't a good team too who seem to find ways to win this game.

Kornheiser, love him or hate him, has talked extensively about the whole media pressure to "pick," which is something that I think we as the viewing public demand, not that sports reporters necessarily want to do. It's just dumb.

With all respect, why do people care?

Yeah, just saw that. I thought it was 4 for 4 but I guess Saunders didn't say Colts, but he implied he'd agree.

The best part was after all 3 "reporters" said that the Colts would win, the host says "Doesn't sound good for Tom Brady" and Lupica knew that the exact opposite was true and said "Oops, sorry Payton." Lupica recognized that when all the "experts" agree, something is up and they're usually wrong. Once all of them picked the Colts, the last 1% of nervousness left my system.

I was going to start a thread, now I don't have to. To borrow on your cool one letter change of his name, Stephen A Smiff, said "Peyton is the face of the NFL, with all those commercials". The commercials make him the face of the NFL? I guess that makes Chevy the face of the car industry with that ever present obnoxious commercial then?

Smith is a NBA columnist to me. The only time I even consider his opinion if it is about basketball. When it comes to other sports, I think he is blowing out hot air.

Quite frankly, you are correct.

This won't be news to many of the regular posters here but, I heard this on the radio last night and found it interesting.

Manning has 16 post-season TDs. 8 came against the Broncos. So that means if you take away the 2 Bronco games he has scored only 8 post-season TDs in 9 games.

I love when Stephen A. Smith says something negative about one of my teams, because he's never right.

I'll never forget how unmercifully he bashed the Raptors for taking Charlie Villanueva in the top 10 of the NBA draft. It was pathetic and really nasty.

Needless to say, Charlie had a great rookie year and finished 2nd to Chris Paul in ROY voting.

Even better stat: he actually threw for 9 TD's against Denver. Even better than that: 9 of his TD's came in the 2003 postseason: 5 vs Denver, 3 vs KC, and 1 vs New England.

Talk about skewed.

"Hammerin Hank" just picked the Colts on Sportscenter. Remember when people thought the winner of New England/San Diego was going to win the whole thing? I guess winning against two of the worst offenses in the playoffs makes a weak defense looks good.

I don't really care what any of these morons think. But it is pretty funny that more of them picked the Chiefs against the Colts than are picking the Pats against the Colts.

OK thanks for the correction. I was writing from what I heard at 2 AM on the raidio. :)

Sorry, man, I wasn't correcting you; I bet you heard right, because I heard the same thing the other day and I looked up the stats to confirm what I thought.

You know, something a lot of the "experts" never seem to do. :)

Funny and sort of understandable....remember the Colts D hadn't been playing well until that Chiefs game and the Patriots offense didn't look great against San Diego.

The "experts" once again prove they have no special insight, they just blindly follow the obvious.

That is how reliable the critics are... go figure.

I think that's telling, and typical. Most of these guys just go by whatever happened the week before or maybe 2 weeks. The Colts stumbled down the stretch? They'll lose to the Chiefs. Oh, they won 2 playoff games and their defense looked ok? Then they'll beat the Patriots. They really are morons, mostly. Totally meaningless.

The betting line is actually worse than (better than?) meaningless--the public's on the Colts! Vegas doesn't build all those purty casinos by losing.

I hope someone takes a dump on the colts logo :D

BTW, Hammerin Hank is 1-7 in his playoff choices. For his sake, I hope he was betting with monopoly money, otherwise I'm sure he probably lost his Miami condo on the Pats-SD game.
