Who's Up and Who's Down after the Eagles game

He was the #4 before and he'll be the #4 after.

QB, could you name for me all the #4 CBs leaguewide who you believe can cover DeSean Jackson deep with no safety help?

I respect your opinion, but I kind of expect some different reasoning.

According to the beat writers he has "made the most plays out of any DB...by far." (exact quote from Bedard) Reiss has also praised him multiple times and even went as far to suggest that he may beat out Dowling for the #3 role (which won't happen).

One play vs DeSean Jackson is kind of interesting logic. Is there more to it in your eyes?

Still waiting on your answer to my question, if Moore has successfully defensed even one pass this preseason.

Exactly the opposite is true. He had all that time to break up the pass and didn't.

It's kind of tough to label someone as 'down' due to allowing a completed pass to one of the top 10-15 WR's in the game, isn't it?

Granted it was of the longer variety, but the WR's are going to win some too, ya know? Especially a probowler vs our 4th string UDFA who is in his 2nd year.

If there were multiple plays or something else that you saw, then I could understand.

Let's see if Moore moves up or down the depth chart after that performance.

Where is he going to go? In all honesty?

You're dancing supafly, sorry.

What question? I didn't see any question besides right here.

I didn't watch the first preseason game due to living out of town, but there's only been two. NFLN replayed it, but I didn't watch that either.

I wouldn't personally put someone in the 'down' category due to not having the opportunity to break up a pass (at least in this game, I don't know about the first), but your opinion is still valid. I just don't see too many agreeing with it.

I'm not sure about these two sterling exhibitions of professional football, but Moore sure did defense a perfectly thrown pass in the end zone in the AFC Championship game to send the Patriots to the Super Bowl. He was there when it mattered.

That's my point. That was last season not this preseason. Name a play like that this preseason.

Good days (various levels and reasons):

Ebner
Gostkowski
Branch
Cunningham

Bad days (various levels and reasons):
Pretty much the entire OL group
Hoyer
Bolden
Vereen
Woodhead
Stallworth
Moore
Rivera

I'm sure I could +/- others, but that seems like a good place to start. Also, Silvestro gets props for the TD, but I didn't pay much attention to him overall, so I can't slot him.

Edelman. :D

He also had the most passes defended by any DB in the 5 games that he played last season, including the playoffs.

That coupled with the moderate to positive reviews in TC allow me to want to see more, allowing him a chance to show some progression.

I also expect some duds too, like any other CB not named Revis, but I didn't see too many reasons to put him in the 'down' category tonight.

That said, everyone will have their own opinions on players, so that is expected :)

Nate Ebner had more passes defensed tonight than Sterling Moore.

Rivera and the entire o line are down, Ebner and Forston are up. I was excited to see what all 3 rb's looked like this week, the o line play ruined that excitement quickly.

Ryan Mallett definately rose. Then again, after last week's performance, he had nowhere to go but up....

As I said, I didn't get to witness the first game, so maybe you have some validity to your point if he played poorly there too, although I don't remember hearing anything too badly in the writeups.

I just didn't see too many reasons to actually put him as a down player, besides the longer completed pass to a probowl WR that just about any CB would have allowed. IIRC, it was a bit of a broken play and it's not like he got burned off the screen.

To each his own though.

I could probably add Cunningham & Koutivides to the Up list, and Ridley to the Down list.

Mallett showed why he's only a QB3. If the Eagles hadn't bailed him out, we'd probably be calling for his head.

Yeah, you probably could.

One could also make a case for Solder in the down list too, especially if you're going on one/two plays of getting beat.

So you're suggesting they cut Moore and keep Ebner based on tonite's game?

Maybe you're onto something. Did you know that Nate Ebner was drafted higher than Tom Brady?
