The rumor is that Andy Reid will play his regulars into the third quarter. Meanwhile Bill Belichick will not start most of his regulars including Brady.

That is a recipe for a lopsided game in favor of the Birds.

OTOH, it will present a lot of opportunity for the Coaches to see the 2nd stringers perform against regulars to ascertain how good they really are. That is a golden opportunity for a Coach's evaluation, that one does not often get.

So what is your Over/Under for this exhibition? I choose over -21, against the Pats scrubs...

Meh who cares. I'm more worried about the ******ed tight schedule.

Pats win btw. We're that good.

Patriots' preseason schedule is rough. I'd just as soon watch the many vying for a spot on the roster prove themselves in this game. Typical preseason game likely has a half-time score of 20-3 in favor the team playing its starters and a final score of 23-23.

I hope the defensive starters play at least until the middle of the 2nd, they need the reps.

On offense I wouldn't be upset if the next snap Brady sees is against Tennessee.

While 2nd stringers may not be as talented as the first stringers, they are still good football players and the difference between them isn't as great as it would seem. With that said, I expectthe Patriots to lose, but 2 things to consider.

Some of these gusy know cuts are coming so they will be wanting to impress. Not just BB, but any other team that might be looking to fill a void for injury or just looking to improve their team.

Also, the Eagles got some injuries, so I'm not too sure how "to the wall" they will be going. Reid might not be willing to put some of his marque players up against guys who are giving it 110% to make a name for themselves. it will be interestign to see how the game is managed.

This is a nationally televised game and I think most of the expected week 1 starters will be playing for 1 quarter.

1 Brady hit and he goes to the bench hopefully....I am glad Babin is sitting.,he is a beast.

I would, and I bet he would be too. Don't want to see a rusty QB and offense that still have things to work on lose a trap game to the Titans.

Not sure what you learn starting your 2's and 3's wholesale against the #1's of a team like the Eagles. Nor am I sure what you get starting your #1's and playing them into the third quarter against the Bucs...

Increasingly not sounding that way. Could be BB sticking it to his pals at ESPN...

If I were Bill I wouldn't be playing Brady. He can get his work in on Friday against a team with less of a pass rush. Not to mention Mankins will be more likely to play Friday with him likely out tonight. OL vs. Eagles with no Mankins vs. OL vs. Bucs with Mankins. I'll take the latter, thanks.

For those who are counting, Philly tied for #1 in sacks last year. Tampa Bay was last.

As for ESPN I agree that Bill would feel no obligation to play Brady just for ESPN and would probably get some enjoyment out of not playing him at all.

We lose tonight, but not for the reasons that you listed. It is because we have no beard power.

Seriously, who the heck is this guy?

I hate Brady not getting the reps in preseason. I still believe that was a contributing factor to his season ending injury in game 1. Pactice makes perfect!

Ridiculous......It was the result of an illegal, below the knees tackle by the biggest thug in the NFL,Bernard Pollard:mad:

Tuck is probably wearing it.

Yeah, although I fully expect some people to go into full panic mode, I think the Pats are just going through the motions while it's a dress rehearsal to to the Eagles.... that's fine, I just expect the Eagles to kick NE's ass tonight because of the difference in approach.

Ebner with 2 interceptions. Book it.

I'm all up for watching Hoyer/Mallet play a half each and seeing the backup's at other positions get most of the snaps....I know what we have (mostly) at the starting positions.....I want to see how the backups do against good competition....that is the game I want to watch tonight.

FWIW, at the end of practice on Friday, as players were heading back into the locker room, O'Brien pulled three guys aside to practice fielding KR: Sergio Brown, Jeremy Ebert and Ross Ventrone. This might be an early indication that BB will be going with our scubs quite a bit tonight...

And poor blocking by Sammy Morris, I thought Brady looked like a machine that game, he was in top form in his prime and would have had a great year if not for the injury.
