That's just totally classless by the Bills.

I cannot recall any player hitting the wall as quickly as Merriman did. Beast to bust in less than a year. Like the OP said, he has not jack since he was busted for steroids.

Why? They paid him 1 million for showing up, then he doesn't perform. The NFL has charities it gives to, but players who can't perform anymore isn't one of them.

However... I do agree the Bills are classless otherwise :D lol

It looks like the Bills are cutting him. Granted someone might pick him up. But with his injury history and the fact he hasn't done much since he was busted for roids, I don't know if anyone will be interested.

Bills turn the lights out on Shawne Merriman | ProFootballTalk

Here is a perfect example of why college athletes risk taking PEDs, without them it appears that Mr Merriman would have been bagging groceries much sooner. He took some drugs and made millions of dollars then he was caught and it all came crashing down, but he gets to keep the money.....:bricks:

looks like we have a power cut.

Would piss me off greatly if Bill were to kick the tyres here.

He's done.

The Merriman house has been dark for a couple of years.

Believe he pocketed $5M of a 2 year $10.5M deal... He should be the poster boy for the anti doping advocates. I know some fans feel it's no big deal and it doesn't matter if the playing field isn't level or whether cheaters push others to keep pace. Same folks will probably support the players when they all start filing steriod damage suits blaming the league for not doing enough to warn or stop them from abusing themselves for financial gain.

It was a joke. He is known for talking about class all the time.

Remember when Parcells was blasted by a lot of people for taking DeMarcus Ware over Merriman?

Look I don't like the guy but the steroids were not the reason he declined it's revisionist history. He got caught in 2006 and still had 17 sacks in 12 games then had 12.5 in 15 games in 2007 the reason he fell off was the knee injury not getting off steriods but people will keep saying it's the steroids even though that is not true.

That was more Thomlinson than Merriman. After the 2007 AFCCG Merriman stayed on the field and congratulated Patriot players and coaches so for me with him the 2006 stuff is forgotten. Thomlinson is the one who's never let it go and has proven to be anything but classy.

He's a week 2 pickup (so the team won't have to pay full season salary, although vet minimum isn't that big a cap hit) for a desperate injury depleted defense. That said, he's done. Good points about the consequences of roid abuse people.

At one time I thought he looked like a young Lawrence taylor....

Ends up playing more like Lawrence Welk

Shame the XFL is not around. Surely he could have been picked up by one of those teams.
