It was just reported that Locker will be the starter, which obviously means that (barring injury) he will be the QB we see on week one. Just an FYI for anyone interested.

Good. He's less experienced than Hasselbeck, and will be more easily rattled. Of course, if the defense roughs him up and he falls apart, that could mean we see both of them.

I don´t agree with you.

In the last 2 seasons, the Pats have had a lot of problems against QBs, they haven´t played before.

For example:
2010 Shaun Hill and the Lions/ Colt McCoy and the Browns
2011 Tebow and the Broncos(first game)/ Dan Orlovsky( Dan who?) and the Indys/ Matt Moore and the Fins

It´s a trap!

That's very true. This was happening even before the new crop of DB's and LB's. It used to drive me crazy even when the old corp. was still playing to watch these inexperienced/lesser known guys drive up and down the field on the D.

You are overstating the troubles the Pats had in these games. Let's go through these games.

Shaun Hill - 27 for 46 for 285 yards, 1 TD, and 2 INTs. Not horrible, but not great either. He had a great start, but was shutdown in the second half.

Colt McCoy - 14 for 19 for 174 yards with 0 TDs and 0 INTs. It was Peyton Hillis that killed the Pats in that game (184 yards rushing with 2 TDs), not McCoy.

Dan Orlovsky - statistically he was great (30 for 37 for 353 yards, 2 TDs, and 1 INT), but most of those numbers came in garbage time when the Pats were up by 27 points in the fourth quarter (the score at the start of that quarter was 31-3). Before that, he had one good drive (ending in a field goal) and the Pats shut down the Colts offense otherwise.

Tim Tebow - Tebow and the Broncos offense played well in the first quarter and then the Pats totally shut them down. The Broncos gave the Pats fits on the ground in that first quarter, not passing.

Matt Moore - He was like Shaun Hill, great first half and shut down in the second half of the game. But again, it had a lot to do with Reggie Bush on the ground too (113 yards).

BTW, the Pats are 4-1 in the games you listed. The only game they lost was the Cleveland game where they did a good job vs. McCoy and were killed by Hillis. I guess that is relevant because the Titans have Chris Johnson, but McCoy doesn't actually apply to your premise of the Pats struggling against QBs they see for the first time.

I'm more worried about Johnson

Some very strong points, Gentlemen.

But y'all are acting as if trouble against uncharted QB's is a problem that plagues the Patriots, alone.

'taint so!! :nono:

Uncharted QB's are a problem for everyone.

Uncharted anything is a problem for everyone.

And if they've had a chance to chart you...you are at an extreme disadvantage, my friends.

Did you see the way that Mel Gibson cleaned up in the Opening Round of Poker in Maverick??

It's because he sat back for an hour, betting low and losing on purpose, so's to SandBag and mollify his Targets ~ while showing nothing'f'is "Tells" and concentrating on mastering the "Tells" of his intended Victims.

And then he started playing for real...and he slaughtered'm.

Same Principle at play, here.

Those On Whom We Have No "Book" always start off with a strong initial Advantage.

That...is why the Urban Legend was born so many years ago...the one we call "Beginner's Luck."

Locker should indeed present considerable problems on Opening Day.

You forgot 2010: Matt Flynn and the Packers

Locker is going to be a very good QB IMO,I liked him coming out of college and I think he will do well in the pros as long as the Titans try and get a respectable receiving corps.

Hasslebeck is a tough old QB who still plays well ... I really don't lean towards playing against either of these QBs in week 1...both will be formidable and will test our suspect secondary.

you wouldn't have to worry about your Johnson if you kept it where it belongs.... :D

The Unfamilarity Factor just underlines how much Belichick's coaching is worth, when he is familar with the opponent's strengths and weaknesses...

Defense................Chops............Lick.........:beatingcoming:

After last season.....regardless of the changes on Defense.....I won't excpect anything but a tough time on Defense until this team proves me wrong during the regular season....on a consistent basis....

They have some tape on Locker from last year so he is not a total unknown.

I'm extremely happy for Jake. I went to high school with the kid and the things he does for this community, especially the kids, are fantastic. It will feel a little awkward rooting against him. However, I hope he stinks it up in week 1!

Yeah, I tend to agree. We've had enough of the flashes. It's now time to finally put it all together and play good defense consistently.

For those of you who don't know, the Titans play AZ this Thurs on ESPN at 8PM. It will be the 3rd game so they should play their starters longer.

Good scouting opportunity.:rocker:
