Why I'm disgusted

After listening, watching and reading all week as the propaganda machine turns against our beloved Pats, I have learned quite a few things. The rival message board fodder which we have dismissed for years has percolated to the surface and become main stream across the national media. For some reason, the media is drunk on a ****tail of slander, vitriol and distortion leading into this big game. Among the slop (often contradictory) being dumped on our heads...

-It was the Vinitraitor, and not BB, Brady or the D, who sprinkled the championship pixie dust on the Pats. He was the real superstar. Brady has never led a game-winning TD drive like Montana. He had to rely on AV winning games for him.

-Brady is overrated. BB is the master, Brady the puppet.

-Brady's raw numbers in the playoffs are not much better than Mannings. He's just had a better team around him. Also, Brady and Manning have struggled equally this postseason.

-The Pats have no class

-BB was just lucky to have Brady. Without him BB would be rotten like he was in Cleveland.

-The Pats were an underwhelming "dynasty" (for lack of a better term), that eked its way through several lucky seasons, benefiting from crooked refereeing and a "lucky star" after 9-11. Good for the salary cap era, not in the class of the authentic dynasties of old.

- Without Rodney Harrison the Pats secondary is helpless and hapless.

- The Colts are due. Their victory over the Pats would be poetic justice.

- The last time these teams met in the playoffs was before the illegal contact rules were emphasized. Now we get to see the real outcome, with the proper rules enforced.

- The "nation" is bored of the Pats and their stodgy coach and team without stars.

- The only Pats SB team on the NFL America's game top 20 Sb champion countdown is at best #9.

Despite winning 3 out of 4, 21 games in a row, 10 playoff games in a row, leading the league in scoring margin in '04, setting the all-time record for scoring first, winning the most games ever in a two year span (34).... This is what the Pats get. And Felger et.al. mock the Pats for feeling disrespected. They are disrespected. It's disgusting.

I have a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach about this game. Honestly I can't say with any confidence what the outcome will be anymore. I consider myself a victim of the constant pounding of propaganda as I kept my eyes and ears open all week in amazement. I suppose it's a lesson in how political propaganda via the media can alter a person's opinion without any new information, just spin. I'm considering doing some chores instead of watching the game I've waited for all year, because I know it will be torture. But also I know I won't be able to keep myself away. I don't know how many of you have the same feeling.

It really is us against the world. On the espn poll asking who will win the game it is 60-40 Colts with 180,000 votes, and the only states that favor the Pats are in NE. Everyone else is at least 2:1 in favor of the Colts.

Pony, just remember that if you are disgusted - so are the Patriots. As the Chargers discovered, Belichick doesn't keep them locked in a bubble. They've heard all the same crap you have and are as pissed as you are - and they can get out of the field, take it out on the Colts and laugh their asses off at the media.

This will be the ultimate "in your face" game - to all the doubters you talk about and to some WR currently at home in Seattle.

Keep your chin up, Pony. Hey, it's natural that this lack of respect and rationalizing of the Pats get us, as fans, down. But I truly believe it gets the team UP. What is better motivation for our boys: adulation or being told they can't do it and no one wants to see them do it? This game will be won on the field, not in newspapers, websites and messageboards. It's our 53 coming together as 1 to take on the world, so to speak, and remember, a cornered animal is a dangerous animal.

I really think it boils down to envy. The Pats have been so good for so long.

Fans of other teams would love it if they had a dynasty like we have had. The better our dynasty gets, the harder it will be for other teams to equal or exceed it, and the longer these fans and teams have to wait to begin the process.

Reminds me of when NFL Network was doing one of its update segments, and the anchorwoman said, "The Patriots' defense was dealt a major blow with news that Rodney Harrison would be out this Sunday". ESPN had it as BREAKING NEWS....as if Rodney has been playing all these playoff games and suddenly tripped down the stairs and injured himself. Everyone knew he wasn't going to play, why are they acting like this is surprising??? God I hate the media so much sometimes.

The total destruction of these pretenders to the throne once and for all would be a wonderful thing. No mercy. If given the opportunity run it up, boys. One more thing... I promise I won't be rooting for non-crippling injuries.

Not only do they contradict themelves (saying Brady is a puppet, then saying BB would be nothing without Brady) but they basically have nothing on us, and are pulling **** out of their asses to make themelves feel better. Examples:

I'm wasn't nervous at the begining of this week, and if it weren't for the media listing one-sidedfacts (in the Colts favor) I would still not be nervous. I find this amazing that we are underdogs afetr beating the Super Bowl destined Charegrs last week. But go ahead, make us underdogs, that's when we play best.

Since it's been obvious for quite some time that the majority of the media doesn't like the Pats (and influences casual football plans to have the same dislike), I'm happy, not angry, by the pundits picking the Colts. It's kind of a win-win situation - if the Pats do lose, we won't have to listen to the media saying the Pats choked (although, I kinda suspect they'll find a way to say that anyway) and if the Pats do win, then the media will be exposed as the biased fools that they are. Also, I'm hoping the Colts bought into the media's hype (as it appears they have from Harper's comments) and overlook the Pats.

The media isn't the reason people hate the Pats, the reason people hate the Pats is theyve won a ton lately. People generally root against the establishment type teams like Yankees, Lakers, Bulls, etc.....Also, another reason people hate them is because they have a negative opinion of northeasterners and thought the whole Red Sox finally winning in 86 years angle got played to death....

I'm just saying, the people on this board and Pats fans in general worry about what the media say WAYY too much. Most of those media guys are just playing a shtick to get people talking. Also, you guys can say what you want but the Pats get plenty of praise around the league....

I want this team to be remembered years from now for the great champions they truly are. It is bothers me that already people who should know better are trying to strip them of the glory they earned. As BB often says, in football all you have is your name and reputation. This team is being painted in some quarters as a bargain basement second rate group that doesn't measure up to the other great teams of NFL history. Yes, what the media writes means alot to me. This line of thinking which they are popularizing will probably keep Rodney Harrison among others out of the HOF, and put the Vinitraitor in. I can't stomach that.

Also, I'm hoping the Colts bought into the media's hype (as it appears they have from Harper's comments) and overlook the Pats.

Shhh! Don't say that, you'll tip off the Colts. I have been thinking that the media fawning has gotten the Colts believing they're invincible and just have to throw their helmets out on the field.

When the Pats smack them in the mouth and the Colts realize they may have to fight to win the game, they will not be up to the task.

Makes me think of the comment Marcus Pollard made a couple of years ago after the Colts had thoroughly waxed the Broncos so bad that he said "they may as well just give us the rings now."

They won't say that now, but I suspect some of them still think that.

We obviously need to bring Harrison37 back to "speak" to people about doing the impossible in the face of restrictive rules of engagement and confusing guidelines.

Pony, you've been reading the wrong data and your stomach is reacting to information that contradicts reality. Time to go back to fundamentals. Assume each team plays a fundamentally sound game, no mistakes, each player executes his responsibilities, each coach calls the game perfectly. Does either team then have an advantage?

Indy advantage: WR, K(maybe)
- WR: Both are considered better, but they also have stronger chemistry with their QB. But after the first two...anybody doubt Tommy could have a big game throwing to Bam and Kelvin and Chad J? I don't.
- K: I'm giving it to Indy because he is the old vet, but it's a lot closer in my mind with Gostkowski's leg strength making up a lot of the difference.

NE advantage: Everything else, here's why;
- QB: More weapons, RB/TE/WR/FB, even Kelvin Kight & Chad Jackson can have a big game with Tommy.
- RB: More versatility, better O-line/D-line tonnage ratio.
- TE: 3 TEs who can do it all.
- OL: They outweigh the Indy D, if each executes perfectly, the rule of gross tonnage applies.
- DL: There are two Probowl level players in Sey and Warren, I'd argue Green could make it to the Probowl as a third down specialist, note he spelled Sey well in San Diego. Wilfork gets better each week and Wright could now start for many teams.
- LB: For what needs to be done in this game to pressure Peyton, cover RBs, and defense the run - no question this unit has the edge.
- DB: Remember Harrison's TD catch in Nov? He had to make a heroic catch to beat a one-handed Hobbs - how many incompletions did Ellis force in San Diego against 6'5" WRs and TEs - forget the moronic rants we see here all the time and watch the tape to see him climbing those giants and stripping the ball out? Asante is known to make a pick or pass defense now and again. Top to bottom, the Pats have the depth edge and that will be the difference. C'mon doubters, Nick Harper goes down, Dexter Reid comes in. Hawkins goes down, Chad Scott comes in. Believe.
- P: I'd call it a wash but I'm wearing my Homer goggles.
- STs: They have one returner in Wilkins-something who can make a big play as a returner. Maroney and Hobbs are both capable of going all the way - and Faulk & Andrews can match the Indy average on their own. The Pats' coverage has been better all season, as has been their blocking.

Coaching: When you put their team's performance side-by-side, how anyone could pick Dungy over Beilichick?

Turnovers and mental mistakes, maybe a nudge from the officials, will be needed to beat the Pats - it isn't going to happen. Take some antacid and chill, the Pats are going for another T-shirt and hat (remember Polian is already making excuses in the media).

Yeah, it's like the forces of evil want the Pats to either act like some kind of blood-thirsty barbarian buffoons (no class puppets) -- the image created by the media;

or they want to Pats to just lay down like helpless "innocent" lambs and get slaughtered.

Either too ugly to be appealing or too weak to be appealing, these evil forces just cannot see the goodness, adaptability, and creativeness of BB & Co. It flies in the face of "their" world of over-paid super-stars, five-minute orgasmic highs, and "the flavor of the month"-type mentality.

Today's media: they've taken "freedom" of speech and turned it into an oppression of the public worthy of Attila the Hun or Lenin's Communist Party International. The Pats are just their latest targets. They don't like the name, "patriots", they don't like the birthplace being in New England, they don't like the connotations of America's birthplace. All of this is so fearsome to them they strike back and try to kill it, with a vengeance.

But, you know what? The tide has turned. These evil forces are done, over. They've had their day, they've dominated for long enough. People are *sick* of it. People are tired of being treated like utter tools of the evil "machine". The time has come to throw off this blanket of evil, once and for all. And everyone knows it, which is why they are so desperate to kill the Patriots. They know their time is over. Tools. A new day has come. Patriot time.

I think all Pats fans need to realize that it is lonely on top of the mountain. You can't expect the rest of the NFL nation to continually root for the Pats to win the SB year after year. And if the pundits come up with stupid reasons why the Pats won't win - so be it. We are a dynasty and fans of other teams are supposed to hate us.

Let the rest of the country think that the Colts are due. Take advantage of it. Put your money on the Pats. They're getting +3 points and the money line is +145.
