I'll include Law as word was he could have come back if he'd agreed to what we offered. McGinnest languished in Cleveland. Givens languished in Tennessee then got hurt. Branch didn't have the same role in Seattle as here. Vinatieri is right where we are.

Which one wakes up tomorrow wishing he were in Indy in a Patriots uniform - with a little less money but still independently wealthy ?

I wasn't sure who I'd vote for but I went with Branch. He was still going to get about the same money in our offer, just a year later. Now he's stuck in a different offense without his prized Tommy and up in Seattle of all places. Behind that smile, he'll be dying if we end up in the Super Bowl this year.

Givens admitted he went for the money. Vinatieri wanted to leave. Law, who knows, but he has plenty of $$$, if he really wanted to be here he would have. Same with McGinest.

Milloy hasn't won one in ages.

Law is all about the money right now. He doesn't care.

Branch seems to like to win more than any of the others listed other than McGinest.

Come to think of it, it's Willie because he was a Patriot the longest and really is one of the all time great Patriots, a guy who should go into the team's Hall of Fame.

Yeah, it's weird to remember that Milloy "only" won one SB with us. Time moves so quickly it's easy to forget that we've won two more SB since he left. While he's probably happy for some of the guys at one level, it has to be killing him to see what's happened since he left.

When Curran was on NEST one of the hosts said something about "this is a game where the Patriots would wish Branch is still on the team" and Curran said "Branch does too". It just got left alone but I wish one of the hosts had pursued it with Curran to see how much he thinks Branch wanted to stay and how sure he was that he really did want to stay.

But, yeah, it would be the ultimate "in your face" to Branch if we were able to win tomorrow.

My guess is McGuinest would have loved to retire a Pat with so many of his old bud's in such a big game. I believe he played with everyone who will start on Defense tomorrow, except probably for Sanders. I would guess he would have liked to play with Seau.

Branch on the other hand feels Belichick is very dishonorable in contract negotiations. Also Branch is too short for the kind of big receiver the Pat's are looking for now. Gaffney, Caldwell and Jackson are all at least 6' 0" and 205 or more - it's no easy task for a CB to bring them down.

Givens and Branch took off and cashed in at the first opportunity; Law has made it clear he's all mercenary; AV flat-out didn't want to stay -- and he's playing tomorrow anyway! Willie was a Patriot for a long, long time. It has to be rough for him sitting at home right now.

I honestly think it's Law. He likes the money, but after having 2 picks against Indy and still having his team get embarassed, I think he realized that no NFL team he plays for will ever be quite like the Pats.

I voted McGinest but would have gone for Milloy had that been a choice.

All the others followed the money and I think would make the same money choice all over again.

McGinest got a great offer and while that amount of money played a role, McGinest is not "all about the money"

I think he also felt he was doing a big favor to a favorite coach and friend by helping RC establish the right tone in the locker room.

What he found was that things are such a mess in Cleveland that he's just unable to make an impact on or off the field. In the end I think he'd be happier here, playing a still signficant role on a SB contender, with the endorsement money gained making up at least part of the windfall he'd have done without by shunning the Browns.

I vote for Willie also. I have an impression that all of the others were quite content to just play wherever the money was best and any wishes to stay a Patriot were just asking for icing on their cake. I just think Willie identified more with the team after all of those years. He certainly didn't need the money and I'll bet he misses the team and wishes he had the decision to do all over again. Of all of those folks, I think it will be Willie who will want to and the Patriots will him to at least have a retirement contract. Willie will retire a Patriot !!

Oh puleeeze. If he wanted to get the deal done, it would have gotten done. He just wanted it done for many more millions than the Pats thought was his value to the team. Had he wanted to get it done, he would have either accepted their offer or fired his agent ala Graham ( or was it Watson??) and gotten it done.

As soon as I saw the question Law was the first one I thought of. After picking Manning twice in the playoffs and his offense unable to do anything with it. He had to be wising he was still playing for the Pats or a team as good.
