Sounds like he'll live..

Santonio Holmes underwent X-rays after leaving scrimmage w/apparent rib injury. X-ray showed no broken rib. He is day-to-day. Info per Jets.

He doesn't have a broken rib. He may have re-aggravated an earlier injury, and it may be cartilage related.

Being told that Santonio Holmes' injury is cartiledge-related, not actually a broken rib. May have aggravated injury from last year.

Per team spokesman, x-rays on Santonio Holmes' rib was negative. No break. He's day-to-day. Sticking to earlier report that it's cartiledge.

Antonio Cromartie looks like he's the next Chuck Bednarik now that he's knocked Santonio Holmes out indefinitely with a broken rib:

Jets' Holmes may have broken rib during scrimmage - US News and World Report

Maybe the wildcat will be the base offense with Sanchez coming in on third and long occasionally to try a pass. Welcome to 1935.
I had to laugh at the thread title goheels. I think I interpreted it in the manner intended. My poor computer. This is the third time I've spit green tea on the screen in a fit of laughter this week.

Something like that could definitely linger and you can be 100% sure that he won't be getting the ball over the middle anytime soon.

I'm sure the Jets will take it easy with him moving forward, since it's just camp. I was just passing on the latest info...

Excellent thread title edit by the Mods - you guys are on the case! What's the world coming to when Twitter trumps US News & World Report?

Good for him, I guess. Torn cartilage in the rib cage is slow to heal. I doubt we'll see Santonio Holmes going over the middle for a high pass with a safety bearing down on him anytime soon.

Re: Holmes Broken Rib - Cromartie #1 on WR Depth Chart

To think that Jest fans were partying because Gallery retired. What a bunch of pinheads. Serves them right.

At least the especially delusional Jets fans will now have an excuse when Santonio doesn't perform this year.

You are doing God's work :)

He's going to be a target. I'm sure there are plenty of DBs that don't like his stupid ball drop after doing something as routine as catching a pass. Line up that rib cage fellas!

They don't need an excuse. He was terrible last year and they still talk like he is a top flight WR.
Holmes ranked SIXTYSECOND in receptions in the NFL. He was tied with Deion Branch, yet had a 1.0 lower ypc than Branch. He was also SIXTYSECOND in receiving yards, and had fewer yards than 15 TEs and 2 RBs,
If Heath Milller had 24 more yards 16 TEs out of 32 teams would have had more receiving yards than this guy who the Jets fans claim to be a good #1 WR.
Of course he was 82nd in rec yards per game, putting him behind and average of 2.6 players on every team.
He did not have a single 40+ yd reception, and was tied for 70th (with 10 guys) in 20+ yard receptions. 13 TEs had more 20+ catches and 4 more had as many.
To call this joker a top WR is ridiculous.

uh...c'mon man...don't be draggin' the joker into any of this sanphonyo nonsense...

I'm that transparent ,huh??

Whenever the topic of Jets suckitude is broached I imagine your face looking like this;

Meh ... who cares ... events like this just gives them an excuse.
The Jet's problem this year is can they finish ahead of Miami and not be last.

stay tuned ... :bricks:

They've pinned pretty much all of it on Schottenheimer.

We are all focusing on the wrong thing. The real story isn't that Holmes had a minor injury to his ribs, its that the guy who put the hard lick on him was Antonio Cromartie. It must be embarrassing for Holmes to be knocked out of practice by one of the SOFTEST DB's in the league.

BTW- Cromartie was seen after practice pleading with the Jets FO to give him the tape of his tackle so he can add it to his highlight reel.....and he wants Rex to name him the new #1 WR on the Jets....at least until Holmes gets back..
