OT: Bears in a blowout

The Saints have a gambling secondary and have given up big plays vs. pass and run all year. The Bears have a solid deep passing game vs bad defenses, a sturdy runblocking line and two tough, grinding tailbacks. While the Saints have two top-notch pass rushers in Smith and Grant, the fast track and home crowd in the Superdome help their cause. The Saints' speed on O and D will be minimized by the rough track in Chicago. Freezing temperatures and loose turf hurt precision offenses. Brees, while one of my favorite QB's, has a tendency to choke in the big spot. Evidence is the 2nd half of the Indy game last year, followed by the Miami and KC games. Even vs. Philly IMO he started off shaky and struggled to keep it together until Deuce bailed the team out. The Windy City crowd, a shaky performance by Brees, Bush struggling with his footing, some accurate deep passes by Grossman, a Saints pass rush and run defense which will diminish as the game wears on... all these factors will lead to a run away victory by the Bears. Chicago wins 30-13.

I would not count on it. I think the Saints expose the Bears for the fraud that they are, even in their own back yard.

Bears let Alexander run all over them..Deuce and Reggie will not be easier with a better QB underneath center and much better overall offense

Seahawks pass D played with hurts guy but i dont see Grossman having a good game again.

The Saints did have a lot of big plays against them, as recently as beating the Eagles last week, but I think the Bears suck right now. Their defense is marginal, pass defense horrible, Grossman is Grossman.

Good analysis and I think the part about the Soldier Field grass being crap is huge. The Bears played on the new grass last week and will be adjusted to it, where guys like Reggie Bush may be at a huge disadvantage. And now the weather forcast is 70% snow, which will make the footing all the worse.

Beyond that - the media yapping all week about how the Bears suck, I think is going to really work in the Bears favor. The Saints are probably going to come in overconfident, and you can see in interviews with Bear players this week that they are getting pissed off more and more everyday.

Oh yeah and Dome teams on the road in conference Championship games are 0-8.

I agree that the Bears win easy. My prediction is 38-17. The Saints are overmatched here I do believe.

And BelichickFan - you watch to much ESPN I think. You sound like Salisbury steak.

Alexander didn't run over the Bears defense until late in the game when they were tiring. In the first half Alexander was stopped cold over and over. And then when the game was on the line, the Bears defense repeatedly stopped Alexander, who btw is better than Deuce or Bush.

Im 8-0 in my post season picks. I have the Saints over Indy in the SB but if I could revise it, i'd have the Bears getting in.

I can't get past the stat no dome team has EVER won on the road in a title game.

I know, everybody is picking the Saints. I know the Saints are a good story and of course it's hard not to root for them, but I can definitely see the Bears feeding off the disrespect.

My take on the NFC championship is this:

If the Pats win I hope the Bears win it.
If the Colts win I hope the Saints win it.

My reasoning: I think the Saints are a better team, and I obviously don't want the Colts winning the SB.

I hope your wrong, I just put my money on the Saints. The Bears defense is not as good as the early season. The loss of their defensive lineman was huge. They do not stop Brees, Bush, and Duece. That is a formidable attack. While Chicago will have to put its game into the hands of Rex if the Saints stop Chicago's run. That will not be pretty.

To say these so-called "pundits" are picking the Saints b/c they are supposedly "a team of destiny" is completely IDIOTIC. The fact is they just happen to be the BETTER team. Here's why-->

1. The losses of Tommie Harris and Mike Brown SIGNIFICANTLY hurt their D. Even the lowly Bucs lit up the scoreboard in their backyard in that "freezing" weather last month. There's no reason to think that Brees/Deuce/Bush/Colsten can do the same.

2. Especially considering that Seattle's OL/WR/QB were all banged up, they still managed to run their O efficiently-fortunately for the Bears, the Hawks receivers were either dropping balls or Matt was way off to some of his open receivers. Again-no reason why the Saints' powerhouse O won't have any trouble tom.

3. Rex was efficient, but wasn't GREAT against the Hawks. Sure, his decision making was very good. But when it comes to reading/handling blitzes, he makes Bledsoe look like Joe Montana-rarely, if ever, can he get the hot guy. Yeah-he'll get his share of big plays against a D that gives up alot of them, but it's nonetheless a pretty good Saints' D he's going up against.(unlike the Hawks' banged up D)

4. As for Dome teams not winning in freezing weather-if lowly Tampa came so close to beating Chicago in Soldier Field last month, the Saints should have a pretty good chance themselves, IMHO.
