Patriots "Dog Days" Of Camp Highlight Intense Competition, Fights
By: Steve Balestrieri

Perhaps the biggest melee, started with T Nate Solder and LB Brandon Spikes and caused a baseball-like benches clearing brawl as the field became filled with players, with most just trying to break up the melee....

This is great. I rememeber in two a days one time, I got into a full out fist fight with one of my teammates. Me and him were sent to the locker room and after practice. We were summoned into the coach's office for a sit down. We were both nervous. When we get in there, the coach gave us a serious face, then proceeded to tell us that he loved our intensity. In the end, the fights and scraps during two a days always made for a closer, more tight knit team.

Some things never change.

That Response is CORRECT!! :rocker:

Any Patriot fan who understands the warlike temperament that Great FootBall requires is celebrating this.

Bravo, Brother Spikes.

I knew we could count on you.

Huummmmph! I bet you were a real meanie, throwing the ball HARD in dodge ball too!

Save the warface for the N.O. and Tampa practices and for when the games begin....

No sense getting macho and injuring a team mate !

I'm sure Nate went after Spikes for something more than a push off.

Save your energy and emotion for when it counts....

No doubt he's the guy who took his helmet off so he could "fight".

Were there any fights during the World of Warcraft conventions?

No, but on the way, Mom had to pull over the mini-van and she took away the GameBoys! :D

I like Rapoport's take that the fighting stems from the offense finally facing some intensity from the other side:

7. Oh, those fighting Patriots. Is anyone else getting a kick out of this besides me? For three years, I watched every Patriots preseason practice. And not only was there not a fight, there wasn’t even a hint of a fight. No one would dare. On the other hand, over the course of those three years, the defense got worse and worse, showing an inability to tackle on a variety of occasions. Now, suddenly, there is talent. They can hit. They can rush. And it sounds like the offensive line is getting pretty pissed. That’s why you hear about LT Nate Solder and C Dan Koppen tossing guys around, igniting skirmishes. It’s cool that Bill Belichick pretends to be upset, and how Tom Brady spoke to the troops. But you know Belichick is amped that his defense is feisty again. That they have a little swagger. The more frustration the offense shows, the more optimism there is about the defense. As for the Patriots offensive line… they’ll be fine. Always are. Brady unloads quick and helps with protection, propping that unit up. There will be no issues going forward.

The D is chest bumpin after whipping Gallery and Koppen!!! Shoot for the stars....instead of #31 ranked D.....they're going for #30.

In all seriousness. Good to see some attitude. The '09 and '10 teams seemed passionless. Mankins and Spikes showed some edge last year. Maybe the D is getting sick of Gronk spiking it in their face.
