No Lloyd at practice tonight:eek:

Yeah he and branch finished camp earlier than the other WRs yesterday and was hanging around with his pads off at the end so it doesn't surprise me. Probably nothing serious. Also I think Branch tweaked his hamstring because right before that pic is taken where they look like twins Branch was showing Brady a part on the back of his leg where it seemed like he was saying it was hurting.

I was gonna mention these but I didn't bother since i thought it would just be nothing.

Do they hold him out of the preseason games also, like they did with Moss in 07? Maybe Florio will even put up a story about a "Suprise Cut". ;)

I like that the guys are chippy. I want a mean team.

I also want a healthy Lloyd!

Healthy Spikes would be good too. Bedard mentioned earlier he went to the locker room. Then:

"Spikes is back on the field. Appears to have a little limp with his left knee, which has a brace on it."

It looked like two baseball teams "fighting" where there's a lot of standing around and a few people pushing. It looked like Gallery was involved a bit too, but I haven't seen it mentioned.

That is not good. Those knee problems could potentially keep him off the field again.

I am hopeful that they'll keep a close eye on it and rest him for awhile if needed.

I was there tonight- the 2nd practice I attended. I got there late and missed the scrum between Solder and Spikes. There is no denying the fire that Spikes brings- he crashed the POA to kill a run in a goal line scenario, and you could see that infectious energy carry over the rest of the D.

I came in just as they were running red zone smash stuff and it was good to see smooth routes being run. They ran Gaffney off the stack with Welker underneath and the cross was timed perfectly, so it's gratifying to see Gaffney hasn't lost his knack for the type of offense Brady runs.

Looking at reps in general, the issues with Vareen and/or/vs. Ridley are overblown. Both are getting roughly an equal amount of reps. I did see some issues with pass protection that may prelude either from being a 3 or 4 down back.

I did get a good glimpse at Tavon Wilson- and he put in a solid showing, deflecting two passes, and looks like he has ability to get on top of the route, but is somewhat stiff out of his breaks, doesn't show fluid hips or a real twitch type of speed to keep up with a change of direction receiver, but does play physical and has a nose for the pile. I think he would be excellent in run support and would probably place him 4th on the safety depth chart.

For all the chitchat on this forum putting Slater or Edleman on the bubble, neither are anywhere near being cut. They haven't shown any reason why they should be reconsidered, at least not to my eye.

Dowling is the starting RCB, assuming he stays healthy.

Probably just had a vet's day off.

A few additional observations from tonight's practice:

* Brady got really pissed off a couple times, once tossing his helmet. Hard to tell if he was mad at himself or at what looked like poor pass protection.

* Hightower is going to be a great run stuffer.

* I hope the Hernandez experiment returning punts is short-lived.

* This team still needs a legit threat at kick returner. Woodhead and Edelman back there are underwhelming.

* It's funny to see guys being ordered to run laps for jumping offsides, etc.

* The "fight" between Spikes and Solder was goofy. All the blue-shirt defensive guys and all the white-shirt offensive guys rushed in and you had to wonder what they all were thinking. I'll bet the defense gets frustrated not being able to hit and tackle 100-percent during 11-on-11 drills.

I hope the experiment is short lived too, as there is absolutely no reason for it with Edelman capable of doing the job effectively. Obviously we'd much rather lose Edelman for awhile than Hernandez in case of injury.

It could be that Belichick feels as though the setting right now is right for some other players to get in on returning duties, so that they'd be prepared if it came down to it. That's what I believe anyway.

I still hope and assume that there will be another KR this year. I kind of expected Dennard or Vereen to get some looks, and we may still see that. In a worst case scenario, I would rather see Edelman have more opportunities than last year though, as 12 total KR just isn't enough to get into too much of a rhythm in my opinion.

Regarding the first bolded, I do not like this idea at all.

Regarding the second bolded, I agree... who are legitimate options right now?

Many felt that Vereen and/or Dennard may see time at KR this year, however that has yet to happen with Vereen and Dennard is currently not participating in practices yet.

Like I said, I would at least like to see Edelman get more KR opportinities than last year's measly 12. He did have an average in those 12 returns of 23.7 yds though, so that is an option too.

Woodhead returning kicks just has not worked out too well.

It seems to Bedard that Gronk isn't quite himself yet since the pads went on. With Lloyd and Branch both sitting out Brady and the first team seemed to struggle. Arrington seemed to finally get the better of Welker albeit while possibly committing PI. Hoyer had a good night, Mallett not so much. Prettiest pass play of the evening but then otherwise ragged. The UDFA RB continues to out rep Vereen. Koppen is now centering the second team and with Connolly dinged it's time for Bill to get on the Batphone to Waters. Brady will need his reps with Lloyd and it's hard to send him out there in these pre season tilts without a first team OL.

Bolder is weird to me as I have heard other reports that Vereen looked solid and received tonnes of first team reps during the practice and especially the 2 min offense

You know, SBB, I could use a few less of your thread titles...

If today was shorts & shells will tomorrow Friday be pads?
Please PM me if you know or have an idea
Trying to avoid 250 mile drive for a beauty patent
Thanks
