Sarkesian turned the senile old man down. NFL Network is saying that Josh McDaniels is the leading candidate now. DAMN.

NFLN: Sarkisian withdraws, Raiders will turn to McDaniels

Lofton withdrew earlier today as well. McDaniels to Oakland may happen after all.

Looks like you beat me to it. For some reason, in the end, I don't think this will happen. What's wrong with Rob Ryan?

That would suck. I hope he withdraws his name as well. If Lofton who is only a WR coach and SarWTF a QB coach in College don't want the job, I am not sure why an OC would.

Wow if McDaniels is their top choice I hope they are ready to be turned down again. Something tells me that Josh knows he needs a little more seasoning. And taking on the Raiders right now would be a suicide mission.

Yeah, there's a decent chance he could say no. But sometimes you never get a second chance.

Imagine JaMarcus Russell in a McDaniels/Pats offense for a second. He needs to turn it down. You're right, it's a lose-lose sitution.

Of course, Charlie could whisper into his ear about getting a Brady for himself . . .

Isn't it true that the Raiders haven't even been able to speak with McDaniels yet? I still wonder if this is just conjecture to some extent. Isn't Josh basically just a few years removed from being a coaching assistant? I like him but what makes him such a highly regarded candidate. Nothing he's done makes me think he's all of sudden gonna be a great head coach. Not yet at least. I really think the Raiders are reaching with this one. And it's starting to get embarrassing that no one wants the job.

But this is the problem with the Oakland job. McD wouldn't have final say who he wants to pick. Reports are out that Davis and the set up there are all over Russell, so most likely they'd draft Russell if McD wanted him or not. Just say no Josh.

Bingo. JMcD is just too damn smart to take this gig at this time.

If you want Josh, you probably get the Weis offense, then Russell is not the QB you are thinking about. Brady Quinn groomed under Charlie and then grabbed by the Raiders to work under a HC who uses the same system and has experience with grooming young QBs (Cassell) and coaching stud veterans (Tommy)...add in Rob Ryan and his tough D...Ugly. That is a move that could bring the Raiders back to prominence - the big challenge is the thugs on the roster.

Isn't this what we said about Mangini last year? A bad organization, rebuilding etc..

Hopefully this guy wants the Raiders gig.

NFL | Reeves hoping for return to coaching
Fri, 19 Jan 2007 16:28:17 -0800

ESPN.com reports former Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Reeves said he is treating the upcoming East-West Shrine Game as an audition, and he hopes it could lead to his return to the NFL. "At the time that I was fired in Atlanta, I needed a break," Reeves said. "Twenty-three straight years as a head coach is very difficult. But as soon as I got enough golf played and started doing all those 'honey-do's,' I knew I was ready to get back in it...It's still in my blood. I think I can still coach." Reeves, 63, hasn't been a head coach since 2003, when he was fired by the Falcons

Al should just coach the team himself. He already has the d- coord. Al could call offensive plays and make all personnel decisions. He could set a recliner up on the sideline and call the plays down.

I want to hear NEM on this subject.

A hop, skip and a jump for the NEMster to take this job. Can you imagine NEM chewing out the Raider fans calling them stupid ... then that bunch of freaks in their gear chasing NEM down the street. The locals would think it was some sort of medeival movie scene being shot in their hometown.

Al has a back up if mcDaniels turns it down.
