I think they are pretty close in their projection. Though I think we'll carry either Ron Brace, Myron Pryor, or Gerard Warren into the roster at the expense of Stallworth or Branch who are fighting it out for the last WR spot.

Ryan Mallet could be a "surprise cut". He's going to have to play well in pre-season. If he doesn't show anything in pre-season, he's done... He has no trade value right now after being passed over in the draft so much. BB can't waste a roster spot on someone who will likely never take a snap this season and offers no value in Special Teams.

Danny Aiken and Nate Ebner are no shoe-ins either. Both could easily be cut.

I could see Brandon Bolden making the roster. One of Tarpinian/Koutavides might slip in too.

so...you're saying an entire training camp with no significant injuries?...quite a crystal ball you're sporting there...hell, why even bother with a training camp when an onlooker like you can call it before even a preseason game has been played...?

The final roster comes AFTER the last preseason game, no? I think I'll wait until then...

Well it's late, the forum is dead, and training camp is right around the corner.... I just wanna talk football.

No need to be a ****. :)

I'm going to have to disagree on Mallett. He had absolutely no knowledge whatsoever last year of a very complicated offense as a rookie. On top of that, he came into TC in a weird lockout situation which likely limited some of the rookies' effectiveness, particularly those who were QB in an extremely complicated system.

I really doubt that Mallett will have to immediately step up and prove himself at the NFL level in his real first attempt. One would assume that a smart guy like Bill Belichick would tend to at least give him a fair chance, not only in picking up the offense in general, but in showing something in a very limited opportunity.

Especially with the whole "Hoyer is likely gone next year" scenario. I sincerely doubt that Belichick would leave himself that wide open at such an important position.

Luckily, Belichick isn't half as impatient as some of the fans here at patsfans.com

I've met him.

Mr.**** Kerr makes a special appearance every now and then under your log in information and account, particularly when it comes to subjects such as chicken littles and/or the New York Jets.

I've made it pretty clear that I wasn't a fan of the Mallet pick, but I don't see how it makes sense to just outright cut him. He's coming off of a season without a training camp, and he's a QB. I don't see BB axing him without him getting an opportunity to grow in a year with a full offseason. There are too many negatives to doing that. If Hoyer were still under contract for a couple more years, I might be able to see it.

pro·jec·tion/prəˈjekSHən/
Noun:
An estimate or forecast of a future situation or trend based on a study of present ones.

He said it was a projection, hell we are fans not not on the Patriots staff lighten the ***** up.

Small nit pick, you only have 5 line backers not 6. (The numbers do not add up until you actually count the names.

Right now I have a similar projection. Few differences.

I have Stallworth not making the team and 5 WR.

I have Tarpinian making the team and 6 LB

I have Justin Francis beating out Cunningham.

I have Josh Barrett beating out Ebner.

Unless Mallet has demonstrated that he has not touched the playbook, can't make a three step progression read, and can't throw a 15 yard pass with touch and has developped happy take-off and run feet (given that he is slower than Brady, not a threat here), I would be shocked if he is a surprise cut.

If he shows any potential to continue to grow, I think he stays as the Patriots know they need to maintain at least their Solid #2 QB pipeline.

I don't see any way Barrett beats out Ebner. Ebner was drafted for his special teams expertise and the fact that he could be coached up on defense. Barrett doesn't offer anything near what Ebner does in that regard.

If Brace continues to perform like he has thus far this training camp, don't count him out of the 53 man roster.

Another widebody DL does seem in order, and I agree that Brace has the inside track right now.

Other likely additions, IMO: McDonald (if he can see the field during camp) over Wendell; Bolden, whose early buzz (e.g. Kirwan) makes him unlikely for the P.S.; Tarpinian, who they seem to love on ST.

Random dark-horse upset potential: Donald Thomas over Gallery.

I definitely agree when it comes to donald over gallery. Donald played in quite a few games last year.

If you belive what you read so far Bolden could knock out Larsen

Branch on the shadow roster and Brace in. Gerard Warren to shadow roster.

I wouldn't be surpised to see Mankins and/or Volmer start out out the PUP and coming in on week 6. Many of the players the Pats cut will be playing for other teams

This makes sense. So you never predict our record, or even a game, because well, you never know how injuries go.

You've got something here.

This is a ******* forum for people to talk about stuff like this. Even Reiss(I think it was him) has his own prediction, and us fans, on a message board, can't because of injuries and the lack of pre season games?

For real?

my point was predicting the roster now is an exercise in futility....the week before the opener would be better...of course don't let that stop you from being so angry that you feel the need to instruct me on what to post and not to post...you don't like it, use the ignore function...bye
