Even without Chad and Gonzalez, I can't fit all the receivers onto the team that deserve to make an NFL roster. The way I see it, either someone needs to get injured in TC, we cut Stallworth, we cut Edelman or we trade Welker. Cutting Stallworth earns us nothing. Cutting Edelman hurts our depth at WR, KR/PR and DB. Trading Welker... well, if a team like Jacksonville offers a 2nd rounder, I would take it and move on.

Even without Wes, we can still play Lloyd - Gaffney - Gronk - Branch - Stallworth five across, with Woodhead, Edelman and Hernandez all as viable alternatives. Not too shabby.

And there is plenty of precedent to trading a highly regarded and productive veteran: Vrabel, Seymour, Bledsoe... Tebucky Jones, lol. All it took was for a team to offer the right draft compensation.

I don't know if there's a trade market for Welker, or if teams are convinced he's a product of the system. If no one makes a quality offer, no question I'd be happy to have Wes for another season or three. But for the right offer, now would seem to be the right time for it.

ummmmmm.....let me think......NO

Trade Wes Welker?

Only if you have a backup plan of acquiring another WR with that $9M!!!!

Trade Wes for a 2nd? If we do that and don't win the SB this year, people will be talking about how stupid that deal was.

It's a great idea if we are rebuilding, not if were trying to win ring #4.

Poor Wes gets no respect, I tell ya.

So, we want to make the team worse for what reason again?

Hopefully tomorrow we can just talk about something football related. Trade Wes...yeah trade one of the guys our QB loves with no contingency plan...its genius!

People sober up by loosing the effect of about 1 ounce of alcohol per hour. If you stop right now you should be ok by Sunday:singing:

I kid!

If the Patriots can get Calvin Johnson or Larry Fitzgerald straight up for Mr. Welker, I'm all for the deal.

Even as one who was against paying Welker what he wanted in a long term deal, I wouldn't trade him THIS year, especially for a 2nd. Don't forget that if he walks and has anything left, we'd likely get a 3rd back in a comp pick. I don't think its good value to give up a year's worth of his production in what might be he last year as an elite receiver, just to get a pick a round and half higher than the one we'd get in compensation.

That doesn't solve the roster problem though because no way you can't keep Edleman and Stallworth...

Patsy, I haven't been able to stop laughing at this picture. Well played.

"Vermin Supreme" indeed. hilarious.

(hey, anybody else think that might actually be NEM?)

No,NEM usually put his foot in his mouth...not a boot on top of the head

Since you brought up NEM, I should point out that he's now trolling Bleacher Report, where he says that Kyle Arrington is the weak link in the secondary.
