As awful as this sounds some characters need to be fat in order to keep their persona. Like Wayne Knight from Seinfeld (Newman). He lost 100+ lbs and couldnt find a job. For whatever his personal reason, he put the weight back on and now hes back on TV.

Rex Ryan has a 38in waist now. He might be less than BBs.

James Gandolfini said that he couldn't play the character without the belly. Could you imagine a skinny Tony Soprano? It just wouldn't work.

Yeah great, congratulations on all the hard work, sacrifice, determination and self control.

Oh wait, he has none of those. He's just a fat bastard who was so obese they had to staple his bloated, distending stomach.

What will power, what self control, what courage.

Bravo Fat Boy! Bravo!

That's an interesting point,

Do we congratulate someone for merely resorting to a type of lipo suction to deal with their weight problem? Probably not but this sounds very different. I was curious so I checked wikipedia and posted a brief description below.

Lapband surgery-The inflatable band is placed around the upper part of the stomach to create a smaller stomach pouch. This restricts the amount of food that can be consumed at one time and increases the time taken for the stomach to empty. The patient achieves sustained weight loss by limiting food intake, reducing appetite, and slowing digestion.[2]

No part of the stomach is stapled or removed rather the patient is forced to eat less whether he likes it or not.

If he can stay slim good for him.

Stomach stapling and lap band procedures are both gastric bypass surgeries that accomplish pretty much the same thing which is reducing the size of the stomach. I just didn't care enough to find out which one it was and instead simply choose to make fun of the slob who has so little self control that he needs to have a surgical procedure that forcibly controls his food intake. And as if that's not a ridiculous enough concept to begin with, let's commend him for doing it.

I still don't think there is any remedy for his BIG, FAT MOUTH.......

Rex losing 106lbs is quite a 'feet'....'foot'.....er,'Feat'

Saw the title to this thread and thought it was about his wife divorcing him.

I saw the title and I thought it was a large cake from the local bakery that he dropped getting out of his car.

You could apply that the 1/2 the cast. Bobby Baccala, Vito Spatfore, Jimmy Altiari etc. :D

I applaud any person who can and does lose weight. Though the method he chose will certainly let the weight drop, but will he form any good "life-habits".

Does this mean we'll get a video of him doing "He's Rexxy and he knows it"?

Heh good point. One of them actually lost weight. He looked like a complete sissy after that - interestingly enough the writers decided to make him gay.

That was Vito. Bobby lost some weight too.

I was reading that a number of cast members went on diets around Season 5. Stephen Schirppa (Bobby) Vito, and Edie Falco (Carmella) all lost good chunk of weight.

The actress that played Meadow was an anorexic/bulimic early in the show.

Funny how all these charters lose weight and the main one packs 'em on.

I miss that show!!!

Good for him! Even though I don't like him as a coach I respect him for trying to live a healthy lifestyle.

Rex Ryan*

* Cheated to lose weight

I've lost 25 lbs in the past 2 months by getting up an hour and a half earlier each day and cycling 20 miles.

I feel more deserving of a thread If I'm entirely honest.

:D

Did you actually see that show? All they did is eat. No wonder they all blew up like blimps.

Yep and in between shoots they had all kinds of catering too. Thats the root cause right there.
