Yes, I know the season has already officially begun, however we are now at the point where things start to really start to pick up!
All rookies are signed, and rookies arrive at Gillette today and begin the process of acclimation and training camp.
In one week the veterans (most of them) will join them, and camp opens to the public.
In 3 weeks the first preseason game against the Saints is played. Granted it's preseason and the teams usually play vanilla, but at least we get to see the team in it's development against another NFL squad.

I can't wait!

May this season be all that you hope that it is and more! Cheers!

Defenses typically play vanilla, but the offenses usually don't. I look forward to seeing the first of many new wrinkles added by McDaniels and what he has to work with (Lloyd, Gaffney, Branch, Welker, Gronk, Hernandez, etc.) in the passing game. I also look forward to getting a good long look at guys like Vereen, Hightower, Jones (of course), and Bequette.

Can't wait, it's been a long offseason and I'm dying for some football again!

I have offseason amnesia every year, so forgive this question: Do we usually get halfway decent reports about this first week with the rookies, or is it typically closed to the point where no info comes out?

I would recommend some time away from here, then. The offseason really didn't seem that long to me.

I actually didn't spend that much time here to be honest, and posted rarely. Problem was I was out of work for the majority of the offseason so it dragged a bit more than usual.

We're primed for another SuperBowl run. This team will not have a Super Bowl hangover. Way too much youth and momentum.. I have high hopes for this season.

Spikes coming on strong. Dowling back. Ridley ready to break out. Hernendez and Gronk will dominate as usual. 2 Stud rookies on defense. A new deep treat to keep defences honest.

I can't wait!

This week is quiet from the stand point that practices aren't open, but radio (especially with the state of the Red Sox) has already begun to shift to intro to football 2012 mode, media who are trusted by those at Gillette start having some actual info to share.

By next Thursday (first day of full camp open to the public) we start getting full reports from media and Pats fans members as far as who's looking good and who's not.

Within 2-3 weeks we'll start seeing signs of the first "who knew this guy could play this good" threads, and posters start IDing their favorite "I know he won't make it, but I think he might anyway" threads.

Been there and it sucks. Good luck in your return to work. If you don't mind saying, what type of work do you do? Maybe someone here knows of a job opening? You never know!

I sense your excitement, and mine is building as well. I absolutely cannot wait. I used to make fun of one of my ex-roommates all the time for watching preseason games years ago, and now I look forward to them with the same anticipation as the regular season games. I can hardly believe that training camp is a week away.

Good times. I'm off the week of the 30th and hoping to get down to camp one of those week days. Always hope to, never have ... but maybe this year.

Can't wait for this season!

Yeah, it was trying, but luckily I'm in a position where no one is depending on my income but me, so I was able to stretch my money a long way. I work in facilities management, and just found a new job recently so I'm excited to be productive again! Too much time at home was making me batty, haha.

I agree it is much shorter than it used to be, particularly after the dead time last year.. they way they are breaking up the off season, creates a lot of interest.

But nothing can replace TC, regular season and playoffs..

Probably old news for everyone but I decided to take a look at the roster and see what numbers some new guys are wearing, as camp approaches. (Yeah, bored; avoiding yard work).

Joe Addai: 29W
Jake Bequette: 66B
Bobby Carpenter: 59
Fonzie Dennard: 37 (no pressure there ...)
Jeremy Ebert: 80 (no pressure ..)
Nate Ebner: 43 (rooting hard for this guy)
Jon Fanene: 98
Daniel Fells: 86
Tony Fiammetta: 42
Marcus Forston: 65B
Justin Francis: 68B
Jabar Gaffney: 10
Robert Gallery: 72
Steve Gregory: 28
Dont'a Hightower: 45
Chandler Jones: 95
Brandon Lloyd: 85
Donte Stallworth: 19 (man, I keep forgetting about him and Gaffney!)
Tavon Wilson: 27

This year is the first year I've taken my vacation in july instead of august. Never again. The longest offseason of my life.

Did anyone get assigned for training camp reporting this year?

That year seemed somewhat light.

Maybe, it's time for a collection.

I'm blocking off time at work in anticipation of conditioning test results. Fingers crossed!
:)
