I think it's moreso that Gronk isn't ready to go yet. Fells had some injury issues in mini-camp too, if I remember correctly.

Fells will be on the roster.

Former TE for the Vikings. Good all-around, but great at nothing.. He hasn't missed a single game in his career.. He's 32 and definitely on the downside, though he still pulled in 36 catches for 409 yards last year for the anemic Vikings offense.

It's clearly because they don't like Fells, which is why they signed him to a 3 year contract.

I guess what I meant was do they not like what they've seen from him so far, which has mostly been him on the shelf b/c of injury I think.

But specific to the contract, the 3 years is less important to whether or not he could be cut - he has a $1 million signing bonus, that's what matters.

Not sure how many teams carry 4, but the Pats do use 2TEs an awful lot, so their quest for depth there makes sense in that regard.

Fells was hurt during mini camp and there's always the possibility it's a serious injury. While he's a decent player, he's not so good he's guaranteed a roster spot or beyond having them bring in competition.
