Youkilis' Letter to Red Sox Nation

YOOOOUUUUUUUUKKKKKKK!!! I wish things would've worked out differently.. But hey he helped win 2 championships! Thanks Youk!

you have to love youk. he played as hard as anybody could ask. to bad the current redsox team doesn't have more players like youk on the roster. instead they have a bunch of entitled cry baby douchebags.

.316 since leaving... Seems like he didn't give much effort for the 2012 Red Sox. having said that, Valentine is clearly not the guy, based on how he handled this mess. His statement of "I think the comment that I made early, he made a big issue out of and I don't think he ever wanted to get over it."

It all points back to ownership for me. They hired the wrong guy, and now they have this giant mess on their hands.

I don't have a problem with the players at all.. well except maybe Lackey who I've always hated. Bobby V is terrible and ownership/management the last few years has been just pathetic. It doesn't help that the media in this town is relentless.. one drop of blood in the water and they are all over it. Blowing every story (and non-story) out of proportion. The team does lack character though and I'm not so sure that's the players fault. But hey they say winning fixes everything and this team is 1.5 games out of a wild-card spot.

I have no problem with Valentine and thanks for a great career Youk but we have moved on. Over the next few years Valentine will change the way things are done here ... players who work hard and produce will play. Not much different than the way Belichick does things but Valentine is not admired for it. Much harder to do in baseball with the guaranteed contracts but things will change here and for the better.

I find it laughable that people bítched and complained last season hoping the Red Sox would clean house and pull a fragmented club house into line. In spite of ownership and some average conditions left by Epstein and Francona Valentine is doing just that - he's giving the players a well deserved spray.

There's no pleasing factions of Sox nation.

Absolutely ... the problem in baseball is the guaranteed contracts. However if you can get some production from call ups and guys reviving their career then it almost shames the others into falling in line. If all else fails towards that end then you trade them ... that is partially why Youk is gone - they did not see him joining the band anytime soon. Then again if he really was the snitch that can only help the mood in the clubhouse.

Time will tell.

Back to the pre '04 days, eh?

The current Red Sox owners must be laughing their asses off as they head to the bank for another deposit and their fans buy the company bs, hook, line and sinker. The truth is that Sox need more players like Youk and less players like Big Poppy, Beckett and the rest of the finger-licking-good crowd.

i pray to the baseball gods ben cherrington doesn't do any deals with theo and the cubs. based on the theo compensation deal cherrington agreed to i fear the worst.

I dont think they were ever going to get anything good for Theo, that aside I wouldnt mind playing poker with Ben. I hope he makes some deals to shake things up but I just hope he doesnt get fleeced.
