Another Day, another Dez Bryant incident

Dez Bryant will likely go down as another vastly talented underachiever who was too screwed up in the head to perform consistently on or off the field.

Ironically, Jerry Jones jumped at this guy in part because he had an over a decade long regret for not drafting Randy Moss because he feared Moss would be a a head case underachiever who would constantly be getting in trouble. Looks like he got the Randy Moss he feared he would get after all.

I do think it is funny that the spin this offseason by the Cowboys is that Bryant has finally grown up and ready to dedicate himself to football.

Anyone care to call any of the talking heads who lambasted the Pats for trading out of the pick Dallas used on this clown and ask them if they care to rethink their sentiments? I know McCourty was a big disappointment last year but I'd rather have a guy like him over Dez Bryant.

The talking heads? How about half this board who blasted Belichick for not drafting Bryant. It seemed that there were most of this board who felt the Pats blew it by drafting McCourty over Bryant or supreme bust Jerry Hughes.

My thoughts exactly. Somehow I always thought it was gonna go down like this for Bryant.

I actually recall most of the board scratching their heads over drafting a CB so high after Day 1 with nothing else having shaken out yet. The majority of that group, myself included, we're EXTREMELY pleased with that draft after it was over.

The most vocal Dez Bryant activist that I remember was The Riddler.

BB tries to look into the football heart of potential draft picks. Leadership and a passion for the game will trump skills if there is a deadlock.

Dez Bryant was arrested Monday for pushing his mother, a source tells ESPN Dallas.

Is pushing off a Point Of Emphasis this year with the Dallas Police?

Two years later, the Mccourty/Bryant debate is still tied IMO, with a bunch of ? marks on each side.

Yep... that's the thread where people actually started complaining about the phrase "in a vacuum", if I remember correctly.

There was a large vocal group of people who wanted Bryant over McCourty. Many people were happy with the draft overall, but that is different than happy with the first pick.

Every year there is a group that complain the Pats should have taken so and so over who they drafted. Most notably Clay Matthews. The difference between the Dez Bryant crowd and the Clay Matthews crowd is that Clay Matthews turned into a stud and Bryant hasn't.

That's how I remember it too, and it's worth noting that Riddler finds a random draft binky--usually an overrated college player with major character concerns--to go off the deep end for pretty much every year. Before Dez it was Rey Maualuga.

Also, I was one of those people who wasn't a big fan of the the McCourty pick in of itself, but came around on the draft as a whole once the rest of it played out. That was the first year where the second round was moved from day one, IIRC, so having an entire day to fixate entirely on one round was a new phenomenon. A lot of us admittedly didn't handle it very well. That said, Dez Bryant had nothing to do with it, for me. A guy who can't keep his head screwed on straight in college will rarely do better after he becomes a multimillionaire.

How 'bout dem COWBOYS!

Well...McCourty was basically like a 1000 yard receiver for the opposing team last season so it's pretty tied. Actually McCourty has about 80 yards more than Bryant.

Another very disturbing story, is it just me or has this past year had way more than the norm in the sports realm

Guy is such a huge talent. Too bad he's as big a headache, too
