Look for the Pats to "Polamalu" Sanders

As in the 2005 AFCC at Pittsburgh, Brady hit Branch early on a deep post for a TD, because Polamalu was playing too close to the line and neglecting his over the top responsibilities.

Who will the Pats send deep on Sanders as they did with Branch on Polamalu:

Caldwell;
Gaffney;
Troy;
Chad Jackson
Watson?

Either way, look for that early.

We will need to use our TE's. Watson needs to step up and not ******* fumble or drop because we will have the size advantage with a guy like Watson, especially over Colts DB's and Watson has great speed for a guy his size. He needs to come out and play a terrific game to make me satisfied with his 2006 season.

Actually, Polamalu was back on the play, but Givens ran a deep cross-in right in front of him as Branch was streaking by. Polamalu had a choice...stay deep or cheat to cover Givens since Givens was breaking clear into the spot cleared out by Branch. Polamalu guessed...poorly.

Later the Pats ran a similar play, but this time it was Graham trying to bait Polamalu to cheat up. It worked, but not as well as before. Branch caught a deep bomb down the middle, but Polamalu got back in time to whallop Branch as he caught the ball. Branch did an amazing job holding onto the ball. A few plays later, Givens scored on the WR screen that Brady waved him outside for.

I think the Pats can and will play such games with Sanders.

Cowher deadpanned, "Listen, Tom....if the safety bites on underneath crossing pattern, just throw it deep to the post....."

It took Brady about a second and then he and Cowher busted out laughing.

i hope you are right but we dont have the receivers with such speed and moves IMO. dont get me wrong gaffeny and caldwell are good but not as fast as deion and i dont mean i regret letting him go...
i dont want watson in that play...they tried in the nov 5th game and he got closed down by 3 colts and tipped the ball to be intercepted.he has a bad habit of putting just one hand up ..

He put up one hand because he had no prayer of catching that ball, it was a pretty miserable throw.
Hasn't Caldwell proved that he is a legitimate deep threat? Sure, we need him on the underneath stuff, but last week he basically won the game with a deep ball, he had a 50+ yarder against Green bay and one more deep ball TD, I believe against Tennessee or Jacksonville.

Look for Gaffney on those sweet 10-yard sideline patterns and Troy finding the hole across the middle. Lots of possible targets for Brady this week IMO.

I would say it's got to be Caldwell - he's shown the best ability to hold onto the deep ball. Gafney (on a long pass) and especially Watson, tend to have the dropsies.
