PR move or not, that's freakin awesome. Guy has a heart of gold, huh?

I first realized he was probably a good guy when some rookie knucklehead on the Bungles ran up a 5-figure restaurant bill without leaving a tip (or an adequate one). Chad found out, went back, and left the tip himself.

Theres not many you hear about doing things like that. He is a good guy at heart for sure and I too root for him because of that. Although I don't wish him any luck when playing the Patriots of course.

This is great and all, but part of me has a hard time comprehending the process of losing a spouse and then going on Twitter to ask a celebrity for his prayers. Isn't that sort of wishing aloud for a handout of some sort? So, she lost her husband JUST TWO WEEKS AGO, justifiably is in deep mourning, and now is headed to the Caribbean for a big party. Very nice, and very, very odd.

Thanks for trying to find the negativity in an otherwise uplifting story, Tunescribe.

There's too much good news in the world as it is.

I don't think it was a PR move, it was a part of a twitter exchange that "evolved" to the invitation. He certainly is easy to root for based on stuff like this.

Actually, my understanding is that she is a twitter fan of his and they have exchanged tweets before. It wasn't just an out of nowhere exchange.

Don't be cynic. :D

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm not "trying to be negative." Of course it's a heartfelt gesture by big-hearted Chad. The circumstances just seem a bit odd is all.

That would at least make a little more sense. Still weird, though.

THat would bring a tear to a glass eye.

Well done Chad.

Agreed. A little weird.

(speaking of which, if Tony Levin would like to cheer me up with a two hour bass solo that would be greet!)

But this almost makes up for Chad's bonehead statement about wanting to play til he's 40

Make the team first buddy... Otherwise the best he can hope for is to have Quatre-Vingt-Cinq play for the Quebec expansion team in the CFL

Chad is a good dude. If you follow him on twitter then this kind gesture doesn't surprise you. Chad does good cool stuff for his fans all the time. Maybe not something this big all the time but he does many cool things for/ with fans. Hard not to like the guy.

As for the lady it seems like she is caught up in the twitter world, she had over 2k tweets and has hundreds of followers. She tweeted that to Ocho 2 weeks after her husband passed so it wasn't like the very next day or anything. I take it that's what tweeters do is share whats on their mind even to celebs. It's possible she was looking for just a retweet (thats a big deal to the twitter people) and Chad gave her something a whole lot better then a retweet.

Good hearted man
Attention whore
Washed up player

That about sums it all up about Chad...He can be and is any one of these.

Because people act rationally around the loss of a loved one right?

Apparently I'm all wet for thinking that jetting overseas to a celebrity's wedding party two weeks after one's spouse of 20 years passes on is kinda odd. Excuse me for raining on your warm-and-fuzzies. :bricks:

Well what some of us find odd others may find uplifting. Whatever works for her, and I give Chad a world of credit for making her feel this way. Like you I found the story a bit odd too, not the part about asking for prayers but personally if I lost a partner a wedding is one of the last places I'd want to go. But that's just me. Actually I have an uncle who lost his wife tragically 11 years ago and has not been willing to attend a wedding since then, but again it all depends on the individual.

Nonetheless like the OP, this story is one of the reasons I've always loved Chad

So that's why he had a hard time grasping the Pats playbook last year...he was too busy planning his wedding...:bricks:

I kid, I kid...:D

unfortunitly .. who cares what chad does now.. we didnt care before , or during his pats stint.. no need to care after ward since he stole money of the pats

There is only one way to console a widow. But remember the risk.

I live by this Heinlein quote...
