Cue the 'Pats to sign Andre Carter' speculation in 3 ... 2 ... 1 ...

Source: Patriots cut Scaife, Ingersoll - New England Patriots Blog - ESPN Boston

The Patriots made a pair of minor roster moves on Monday, releasing tight end Bo Scaife and offensive lineman Mike Ingersoll, according to a source.

Scaife was signed on June 7 after the Patriots were thin at tight end for the conclusion of their organized team activities and minicamp. The 31-year old veteran had played six seasons (2006-10) with the Titans.

Signed on June 8, Ingersoll was a first-year offensive tackle from UNC who had spent time with the Chiefs and Buccaneers last season.

The moves open up two spots on the Patriots' 90-man roster, which now stands at 88 players as they begin a five-week break before the start of training camp.

From what I read somewhere Scaife turned up in less than great shape.

Don't have the article though.

Yea, I'm not surprised by this at all.

As for the open roster spots, I would like to see another addition made at DT and Safety.

Re: TE Bo Scaife released

Given what we'd been hearing from the media, I'm more "surprised" about Ingersoll than Scaife.

Do you want to see my SHOCKED face?

Re: TE Bo Scaife signed

Either Fells is going to be ready, and it's been reported his injury was minor, or Graham will be along shortly.

Or Jake Ballard has amazing healing powers ... just kidding.

Bit of an understatement. Reportedly, he could barely keep up with the rest of the guys, and was contantly fatigued.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to tell you all that I am probably in better shape than Scaife.

Well, say goodbe to the Bo Scaife era. Say hello to the Daniel Fells era. :)
Do not be surprised if we pick up 2 more tight ends! LOL

Some people are saying Daniel Graham, but I hope not. Didn't help us In the pass catching game then he won't help us now. Besides, he'll be 34 soon.

Who and WHO???????

Either way, it's best for the team.

what does this mean for the future of the Bo Scaife thread???

You started following the Patriots around the time you signed up here, in 2010, then?

No, I clearly state below my name that I've been a Pats fan since 1999. Is he an exceptional blocking TE?? Yes, but along with his age I don't believe he can pass up much younger pass-catching TE's in Ballard and Fells. My point was he's never had much to give in the passing game.

EDIT: I edited my post above to clarify my point I was making, sorry.

Pardon my ignorance, but...what have you been hearing?

DT - maybe; Safety - definitely.
And don't be surprised to see another QB signed before TC begins.

Pardon my ignorance, but...what have you been hearing?

That he was woefully out of shape and struggling to make it through practices.

I was wondering too. From your 'what I had heard' comment; I thought you had heard something positive about Ingersoll; rather than the negative stuff about scaife.

Too bad about Scaife. He is a talented TE. He showed up out of shape and not ready to go - the Patriots have way too much talent and depth for anybody to walk in off the street and catch on.
