The New England Patriots contacted the Saints today and are trying to work out plans for joint practices in Foxboro. A decision will be made in the next 24 hours on whether the team will make the trip.

Wow.......... two of the most hated teams in the NFL (for both their success and *gates)....... practicing at the same time in the same field......

On a different note........how funny would it be if the Pats trade Ballard back to the giants for some draft picks????? With BB u never know what is next..........

People, I went to the joint Saints-Pats practices at Foxboro summer camp a few years ago. The best camp experience I ever had and I've been going forever. You get to see 2 teams really going at each other with all the newbies trying to make their bones by smacking the hell out of an NFL opponent. If it happens again, do NOT miss this.

Man this is the second time they'll do that in Foxboro, they need to do one down here.

/jealous

i think the saints players would like playing in cooler weather than a sauna.

I'm surprised that teams don't do more of this, though perhaps the limit on the number of practices with contact under the new CBA may have something to do with that.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Belichick does something similar with Tampa Bay now that Schiano is the head coach there. In the days just prior to their preseason game would be an ideal time to do that - although on the other hand Schiano may prefer to avoid inter-squad practices during his first year as a head coach.

Last time this was a good experience, hopefully they are able to pull it off again..

I know BB doesnt give a rats azz about what Go(to)hell thinks; and he has done this with saints and giants before. But even so part of me wonders if he isn't pushing it this year just to tweak Go(to)hell a little.

I'm sure the mediots will have fun with it. 'Gate-twin butt heads' or something.

At least if a Saints player trys to take out a Pats player because of a Bounty, BB will have a secret recording of it.

luuuuuuuuul :p

[ insert angry response about how all practices are taped here ]

[ ad hominem goes here ]

Should be very interesting. Saints are a talented team. I'm not sure how well they will recover from "Bounty-gate" though.

Bounty gate sucks, then throw on top of it the fact that Brees is feeling not so peachy over the franchise tag / contract situation.

hope it happens. I would come up to watch it this time. It would be a sweet to see BB, and watching the boys against a superior opponent . Do BB and Brady give autographs after ?
Like to see if I can meet up with some of the good people on this site to.

I think BB's main motivation is to let Rob Gronkowski pick up some pass catching tips from Jimmy Graham. :D

:) our motivation would be for Gronk to teach Graham better routes , and how to run more than 3 yards after the catch, and not be tackled by a 5ft 9" 195 lbs CB.

The two most hated teams in the league? Together?

I like it.

If not the two most hated, we're certainly the most "-gated." :p

In all seriousness, whatever is going on within the organization, BB doesn't give a crap about it and likes something about what they're doing enough to want to have a little scrimmage time. That says a lot.

Practice-gate!!!

If it's an open to the public practice, I'll be there. Gives me an excuse to go to the Pro Shop also.

I usually catch one TC practice a year and my son meets up with me there. Being less than an hour away makes it fairly convenient.

BB and Payton struck up a friendship. Too bad he won't be there as the HC this year.

I think these joint practices are a great idea. Its almost like a controlled scrimmage. Its a chance to see where you are at with one of the better teams on an individual and group level. Its a chance for the players to compete against someone NOT on your own team. Its also safer since contact is reduced by half.

When well organized this is a great productive learning experience......AND a must see for fans. In an ideal world I love them to have 3 of these exercises before each preseason game.
