As much as I like Hightower, I wouldn't have minded trading that 2012 first back to NO for their 2013 first. . . .

Did he play for them at all last year? Not sure how much of a blow this is.

I did notice Jonathan Fanene was out today after having his knee checked out at practice yesterday. I'd be lying if I didn't say that I basically assume every Patriots injury in the area of the knee was a season-ending ACL injury. That's, sadly, how my brain works.

No way, Brees is going to show up eventually and thats still a double digit win team.

Considering that they were hoping that Romeus could step up and fill some of the void from the suspensions and losing Hargrove to Green Bay, it hurts them.

I wish, Saints would never do it

And now Malcolm Williams has a very good chance of contributing more than Romeus for the second straight year, even though everybody hated that the Pats passed on him.

I'd rather have a potentially very talented LB in the mix for another SB run this year.

I think their 2013 pick is still going to be in the 20s.

If he was carted off, does he have to pay $1,000?

man, the Saints really just can't catch a break.

why do we care about the Saints all of a sudden?

It's not "all of a sudden". Or have you missed the entire off-season where they've had numerous issues?

Gimme my f****** money!

Anyone else get the feeling that Saints games are going to be rather high scoring this season?

are you saying their games of the past few years didn't look more like madden than NFL?

The Saints defense is going the way of the 2011 Colts. I'm suggesting it'll be more Madden than Madden. ;)

The Saints cut Romeus, with the expectation that he will be put on IR if he clears waivers:

PFT gets a few digs at the Pats and the Jake Ballard situation. But Romeus not only tore his ACL and MCL, he had knee (ACL) and back injuries his senior year at Pitt.

Tough break for Romeus. He was Chandler Jones before Chandler Jones - a 6'5" 265# prospect from a Big East school 35" arms would would likely have been a 1st/2nd round prospect in 2010 if he had declared as a junior. He was the Big East DPOY in 2009. He had a lot of similarities to Jones in his game - great length, lack of an elite first step but great strength and hand technique, not a true 3-4 OLB but able to play standing up at times.

I was really high on Romeus in 2010, and when he came out in 2011 I was hoping the Pats would pick him up day 3. But after 2 ACLs and a back history, it seems like he has a big hill to climb to resurrect his career.
