Hmm. I always think of the most expensive sports tickets in terms of price of a season ticket, and the Pats are way more affordable (given that they only have 10 home dates, plus two possible playoff games per year) than the Sox, Celts or Bruins if you are an avid fan who likes to go to all the games.

There is more than one way to look at how expensive tickets are. Plus, I don't really know where they come up with this price. Without looking, I think that most seats in the stadium (except for the club seats, which they must be counting here) are less than $200 per game.

The way I would chose to look at it is pretty simple. We should have the highest priced ticket as we have the absolutely best product in all of sports. Best sport in America is football, we are the best team in the sport and we still have one of the best stadiums in the sport.

Dont like the price go route for the Padres or something where I believe you can get in the stadium for 5 buck field seats and then try and tell me that Patriots isnt worth 50 times that. Realistically it only needs to be 15 times better as the cheapest seats in Gillete are the corner 300 levels which I beleive are only 80 bucks.

Comparing prices from the "scalpers market" is stupid and misleading. The Pats, for instance, likely have the fewest number of tix sold by scalpers/resellers because of the team's efforts to limit ticket reselling in general.

It's both, though the article isn't saying the team is ripping anyone off. Realistically, If someone wants to go to a game, they're not likely to get tickets directly from the Patriots since they sell out so quickly, so the secondary market is the only option. Once you go there, the price is high. Them being popular is the obvious reason why, but it is what it is.

Yup, and combined with the difference between the analog, standard definition TV's we had when the Patriots were 1-15 and the HDTV's we have now, I choose to watch from my couch. Obviously people are buying if the prices are that high, and all the power to them, but speaking for me, it's only worth it as a rare, once-in-a-while thing instead of being something I would do every season as in the (even recent) past (late as 2008).

They aren't more expensive than Cowboys Tix...What is ignored is that, for Cowboys Tix, you have to pay significantly more for parking.. Like double of that in Foxboro.

I don't think so. Living in LA and being a lakers fan, I will tell you lakers tickets are easily the most expensive of them all. The worse seats will cost u around $50 face value, that's if u get the hook up and actually can buy them at face value, other than that you are looking at easily $100 a tickets for some 300 level seats.

I haven't bothered with the article because the headline was so misleading. The whole "in all of sports" crap. The NFL only has 8 regular season home games as compared to 40+, 40+, and 80+ for the other 3 legit sports. So that eliminates all Baseball,Basketball,and Hockey. Add in that they are talking scalpers prices and the article has all the relevance of a g-string in the Queen Mum's dresser

Would you rather be a fan of a good team paying big bucks to watch a team that is always in the running for a title? or be a fan that has to pay hardly anything to watch a team like the Browns who are almost eliminated from the playoffs by November?

I love the new stadium but I also loved going to see the Pats in the old stadium, aluminum benches and all. You could buy seats in the dirt parking lots pre-game at face value and maybe below if you waited longer. Food and beer, much cheaper. 2nd tier was much closer to the field too. You could also park for free before the towns got their panties in a twist and started cracking down.

Modern widescreen HDTV with 5.1 surround sound crowd noise vs low res tinny sound analog has narrowed the difference between attending and viewing. I still await interactive viewer controlled camera like presently on the internet, e.g. cheerleader cam.

I'm now down to 2 games a year live. Cost, longer drive and older guy culture more annoyed by the traffic hassle. But the stadium experience is greatly enhanced by the large screen replays. Just wish the corporate puke beautiful people attending would actually cheer now and then.

One thing missing from this equation is PSLs. A lot of the other NFL teams on this list charge a boatload for PSLs upwards to tens of thousands of dollars. You factor those into the equation and Pats' tickets aren't the most expensive tickets in all of sports.

Success is only a part of the cost. Another major part is size of the stadium. Gillette is small.

At least Jerry Jones was smart enough to build a stadium that could rival any college football field.

Gillete is only the 50th largest football stadium in the US. Even the Bills antique stadium is bigger.

I can only hope when they have more money they have a redesign on the boards to lift it to over at least 80000 seats. More people in the stadium equals more cash for Kraft.
