brandon meriweather -- where are they now?

Last time i saw him he was having nightmares of Steve Smith.

I have never thought that Merriweather's problems were about willingness and talent. His problems are more geared to his lack of coachability and being geometrically challenged. As BB has said on many occasions, that playing for him is NOT an easy chore. So I thought that a change of coaches might be what he was missing. However, evidently the Bears under a more lenient Lovey Smith, couldn't crack the code, and Brandon went from starter, to benchwarmer, to out the door in very fast order. Maybe the 3rd time is the charm. I wish him luck.

the funny thing is, when he went to the bears I heard some speculation that this was just what he needed, and that's the type of system he might actually be a good fit for -- now I'm reading that he supposedly wasn't a good fit in that system, and this washington thing should really play to his strengths.
good luck.

Hanyesworth said the same thing when he went to the Redskins... Patriots... Buccaneers... not sure where he'll be a good fit next

BIG BANG CLOCK!

I don't wish him well. Wasted a high pick, a few years and left our secondary in shambles. And it was entirely his fault. All he had to do was what the coach said and work with his team mates and he intentionally did the opposite.

What's the difference between coachability and willingness?

Brandon played a lot of good football for us.

Yes. Year's 2 and 3 he seemed to the rock of our secondary in the making.

I guess that Pro Bowl berth went to his head, and it was all downhill from there.

Patriots cornerback Brandon Meriweather joined the Dale & Holley show Monday morning and explained why he didn’t start in Sunday’s loss to the Jets. “The coaches were doing whatever they felt was best for the team at the time,” he said. “I haven’t been myself in practice. The coaches wanted to show me just because I went [to the Pro Bowl]. I still have to come and play. Basically, that was my fault that I’m not on the field as much.” Meriweather admitted to not heeding the coaches’ instructions, leading to his demotion. Explained the cornerback: “I was trying a lot of things in camp just to see if they worked. And they weren’t. Instead of me stopping trying them and doing exactly what I was coached, I kept trying them.”

You can celebrate players that have talent and waste it, I don't. I was a critic of BJGE because i didn't think he had the talent to be a starter in the league. He proved me wrong. He was an UDFA. No one gave him anything. He earned every start with discipline, team play and consistency. I hope he goes to the Hall of Fame, who knows.

These me first players who can't be bothered to study and play as coached, I'll drive them to the airport. Their loss makes the team better. a lot better.

I was ony quoting Bill Belichick

Belichick says Meriweather: "played a lot of good football for us" - Boston.com

FOXBOROUGH -- A few quick hits from Bill Belichick's press conference today, which is the first of the week as the team prepares for the season opener against the Miami Dolphins.

Here are a few highlights:

On Meriweather: "Each year is a new year and I just don't think you can pick teams and players based on what's happened in the past. You have to pick them based on what you think will happen this year and that's relative to competition, the make up of your team and the player's performance. "Brandon played a lot of good football for us. We kept the players this year who we felt would be the best make up for the 2011 team -- not the 2009 team. It's the 2011 team and that's the players we selected."

When a safety goes to two Pro Bowls despite being fundamentally unsound -- yeah, you can be pretty sure he made a lot of good football plays along the way.

I don't think BB's quote told us much we didn't know before he made it.

What I meant by that is his willingness to hit and be physical. That was never a problem. But his unwillingness to take the hard coaching and his inability to take good angles on the ball were the reasons he got cut.
