i think praying may be a bit over the top. the big guy has more important things to deal with. thanks anyway lol.

I'd like to think when we get some starters back things will be better.
My intuition tells me it's not going to be that way - there will be more injuries.

the problem with the flopsox is pitching. and the only pitcher they will get back is bailey. :( are there any other pitchers hurt i might be forgetting?

Bard might eventually come back for relief, but his performance currently in Triple A is dissapointing to say the least. I certainly doubt he'll ever be a starter again.

Thank god I'm not a huge baseball fan as this year for Bostonian fans in general has been rather disheartening.

I think the hitting is as bad as the pitching except for the bullpen which has been a bright spot. When we have writers saying Sweeney is untouchable that is a problem. That guy is useless and yet they'd rather dump Nava when Kalish returns. I would dump McDonald when Kalish returns.

i agree. i cant believe McDonald still has a major league job. i dont think the offense is the problem. even great line ups get shut down by good pitching. it would help to get ellsbury crawford and who ever im forgetting back. i wonder how much of a difference they would make to the win lose record. 2 3 4 games maybe?

bard is back pitching out of the pen in pawtucket.

How long is it going to take Bobby V to work out Middlebrooks > Youkilis?

Too long.
This team is painful to watch.

A bit of a non sequitur, but I can only imagine the day that Tom Brady and BB depart from our beloved Patriots. It'll likely be decades before we return back to form. :(

Poor Josh-

He's malnurished.
It's hard keeping up your strength when you can't get KFC in the clubhouse:p

So what are we making of this Clay Buchholz vodka pool party thing? My take, if the reports are accurate, is that there is zero leadership in the pitching staff. There's no Pedro/Schilling/Clemens to tell these guys "wake the eff up". Beckett is the leader, he does what the hell he wants, and his little brothers do the same thing.

Where's the common sense? "Hey, I just got out of intensive care, let's go to a vodka pool party."

Dumb.

...and I can't believe I used that Fathead Clemens' name in a positive reference. I really hate this team.

It was a charity event sponsored by stoli.. and apparently Clay didn't drink.. Here's the link. Pool party for Clay Buchholz - Boston Sports Blog - Boston.com I don't have a problem with this.

The only thing that ultimately matters is if the team wins, and they are doing that now. I still don't like Bobby V but if they keep playing like they have been and get in the playoffs.. I may come around.

I was not surprised to hear the Boston Red Sox flagship, WEEI, spin this on Mutt and Lou. Damage control. I don't care what he did at the party, it's the attendance to begin with, and the complete lack of common sense continually shown by this organization. THE DUDE WAS IN INTENSIVE CARE. Even if he's not "seriously" ill, it's serious enough for him to be in the ICU. Then the Red Sox supposedly gave him permission to attend a party, instead of saying "you know, you just got out of ICU at the hospital, and even though your fine now, let's play it safe and lay low."

Of course, upon hearing Mutt and Lou spin it as no big deal, my initial thought was a team sponsored spin/cover-up. The team was not about to have another beer and chicken thing on their hands, so they simply said they gave him permission. I realize this smacks of Nixonian paranoia, but that's my take on it.

I am really shocked that no one said "wait a second" and thought it though. Again, it smacks of the arrogant, pink hat pandering of the front office, and it permeates all the way down to the players. They can do or say whatever the hell they want, and the fan base will lap it up like hungry little puppies. Charge a premium for lousy seats and call it a deck or a club? You bet. Sweet Caroline while losing in the 8th? No problem. Beer and Chicken? No sweat! Stoli party after being in ICU? Let 'er rip!

Can you see the Krafts allowing this? :nono:

Regardless of this pool party nonsense, you guys realize the sox are 1.5 games out in the wildcard. Ellsbury and Crawford starting rehab as well and I like our chances to grab a playoff spot.
